Great bulbs for a reef tank
I purchased these lights to replace my separate 10,000k and actinic compact florescent lights I us in my 75 gallon reef tank. At first I was skeptical as to weather or not theses 50/50 lights would output the same but when I saw them for sale here on amazon for half the price of the separate bulbs I decided to give them a shot. Wow am I impressed, although these light seem to give off a bluer tint than my previous bulbs. My anemones and corals have really perked up since I installed this light about a week ago. I would highly recommend these bulbs to anyone searching for lights for their reef tank.

works well but to expensive
works well but to expensive. Change your lights to led. Its way better to make your own lights from led bought on here or ebay.

garbage
This was the forth bulb that I tried of this type. The first two lasted a 5/6 months. The next to last one flickered as soon as you turned it on and I returned it.Bought another since I had the rather expensive ballast and plug. I returned from vacation to find it burned out. 5 days over the return date, so bad luck consumer.. At $30 a bulb I would hope for more than 4 weeks of bulb life! Very dissapointing. The regular flourescents on the tank have been running for almost 2 years.

Works great, but doesn't last a long time
These bulbs work great while they last. When they are new they provide vivid, rich color light on the tank. The downside is they fade relatively quickly. They're probably only reliable for 6-9 months before needing to be replaced. You won't really notice the gradually fading light, but your corals will. You will gradually notice the corals looking less healthy and that will tell you it's time to replace the light bulbs. When you put in the new ones you will be astonished at how much brighter the tank is again-- after only 6 months of use with a $20 bulb!

Flourescent Aquarium Tubes
Tubes give off sufficient light and duration. Only slightly cheaper than purchasing at aquarium store. In any case, these tubes are way over priced and I'd looks to see if there is not a better and cheaper technology!
