Fit was spot on
I've worked construction all over the state of Alaska, been here close to 40 yrs.I've purchased many different brands of gear over the years, hoping to stay warmer than the last jacket/pants combo.I relied on RefrigiWear when temps drop below - 20° below 0, the Carhartt gear in the warmer temperatures.I'm on the fence with my latest purchase, the jacket w/matching pants are much lighter (weight wise) than my old pairs. My first thought was "how can I stay possibly stay warm in such lightweight gear?" I figured the paid reviewers got me with all the 5 star reviews, just can't trust reviews nowadays. The jacket fit was spot on & the matching pants were a tad long, after washing them they fit perfectly. As others have mentioned, the material is quite loud when walking/moving around. Once they get broke in, I'm sure it will quiet down. The zippers work great, they do drag some, after using zipper lubrication, no drag at all. I always lube zippers. You will be amazed at the difference. Please don't use WD 40 or other automotive lube/oil, it will stain/smell & start breaking down the material. Ask me how I know.Since we haven't had any real cold weather worth talking about, I can't state how well this combo works in nippy weather or damp wet snow. I understand improvements have been made for insulation materials, making winter gear lighter weight, supposed to keep one warmer.I do hope this jacket/pants live up to the Carhartt's reputation. My last jacket/pants combo are almost 10 yrs old & still have a few yrs left. I lost quite a bit of weight & too big to wear.I will update my review after colder weather shows up.For now I won't recommend thisJacket/pants combo.

Best jacket I have ever owned
I live in Illinois where it can get in the -10+ during the winter so I wanted a really warm jacket. I started out really wanting a heated jacket so I purchased a certain well known Wisconsin tool companies heated jacket. I was super excited but soon found out it didn’t hear very well. Of course I was now on a search for a warm jacket but scrapped the desire for a heated jacket and instead decided I would just look for a super warm insulated jacket. My searches led me to reviews on this jacket and I was really excited to try it out. I am 5’11 and 145lbs so I decided to get the Small, which fits so perfectly with or without base layers (which are not even necessary with this jacket). The material is stiff and when sitting in a car with it zipped up I sometimes feel like I’m wearing a neck brace. It has already started to relax tho with only a months use and the stiffness is just part of its overall quality. The material is so strong my dog can scratch at it and my cats can try to use it as a scratching post with no visible damage. I think a more durable outer layer would have to be made out of steel. As far as warmth, it seems impenetrable to weather. Whatever temperature it is outside, it’s still warm and toasty inside with no wind creeping in. I have never worn a warmer jacket, I can hold my arm out of my car while driving in the 10 degrees F and not even the material inside the sleeve gets cool. I’m pretty sure the insulation is yeti fur. The pockets are great with a zipping inside chest pocket on the right and a Velcro inside chest pocket on the left. The exterior lower pockets are at the perfect angle to allow me to reach in the pockets even while seatbelted but deep enough that no items can fall out. There are also two exterior chest pockets that Velcro and seem like they would keep the contents dry in snow and rain. The zipper seems to be a complaint of many and the first time I wore it I didn’t like it. Fast forward to many uses later and I’m not sure if I got better at zipping it up or it loosened up and became easier but either way, it’s no problem now. It’s one of those double zippers that allows you to zip up the bottom zipper to allow easier sitting, these are always a little more difficult to get started. I like the jacket so much I’m looking into getting the overalls of the same type. If you live in a warmer climate and are going to be performing strenuous activity I might not recommend this jacket as you will probably sweat and become too warm.TLDR: this is the best jacket that I have ever owned and it seems like it will last a lifetime.

Tough fabric but terrible pockets!
Love Carhartt jackets and this one is nice and warm. I love the Cordura fabric because it seems very tough and resistant to abrasion. The jacket is best suited for dry weather though.I bought it because it's waterproof, but the lower pockets have no zip or flap and they fill up with snow or rain. You end up walking around with bulging "water bags" for pockets when you're in bad weather.I'm returning it and getting a Carhartt Sawtooth Parka #102728 instead.

Uncomfortable Jacket with Way too many issues, brutal on your neck
Pros: Warm.Cons:-You have to buy the hood separate from the jacket. For another $20-$30. Plus some hoods don't fit some jackets and I can't get an answer as to which one fits this coat. Carhartt support has given me two different answers. Why not just include it like every other coat/jacket on the planet?-The zipper is a real pain to zip up. I shouldn't have to waste minutes getting to work because of my zipper not working.-The neckline. Because my medium is built like an XL, a big patch of velcro AND the top of the zipper rub against my neck the entire time this is on. First day I wore it I thought I had poison ivy, but it was just irritation from the jacket on my neck. I personally cannot wear this coat without a neck covering of some kind.-It's spectacularly uncomfortable. Feels like I'm wearing a big canvas box.I will say this is totally uncommon in my experience with Carhartt. I usually am delighted with the product.

Carhartt quality as expected
I've been wearing Carhartt clothing for a couple decades due to their quality, fit, and design so when I needed a new cold weather jacket this was my first option. The coat arrived stiff as a board, but after one wash and a bit of fabric softener it's perfect. I paired it with a Carhartt Men's Yukon Hood (which frankly should have been part of the package not an add-on accessory) and, after the wash, added additional waterproofing using Atsko Silicone Water-Guard spray. I find it plenty warm in frigid weather as long as I'm moving around a bit. The fit is as expected and the sleeve gussets make working outside comfortable and easy. And, it looks good too. All-in-all an excellent purchase.

Great quality, on the larger side
I just received the coat. I compared each of the coats before making a decision to go with this one. I'm in Canada, so I wanted something warm, but versatile so I can wear it to work or out and about (I know, very Canadian :)).The quality is top-notch. Very still, but it'll relax. I'm 6'1, about 255lbs, and the XL fits a little big, and that's with a sweater under it. I think I need to lose weight to fit into the L, or maybe eat more to fatten up so this is a little more snug.Either way, beautiful coat, and I look forward to seeing how it is in our Canadian winter.

Nice - genuine carhardt quality
It is very well made and extremely warm - cut and tailoring is good however they do fit big as others have noted. I bought an XL and kept it - I have room for layers for sure. If in doubt - go down on size not upDefiantly Carhardt quality that I love in other products I have of theirs - some with many years of rugged wearOverall very pleased

Adequate
The cuffs are too large. If you'll be wearing bulky gloves this may be an advantage. Some minor quality issues. I would have expected a little nicer of a cut and zero stitching issues for the price/brand.Warm and held up well through the first winter.

Best Jacket on the market!
I love this jacket, quality and super warm for the cold working days! Normally wear a size xl in other brands but after reading reviews about the size I went with the size large and it fits great.
