Very Valuable for new excel users
This books prepared me and put me a a great position to expand my horizon in the workplace. If your are needing to know excel for education or work then this is a painless introduction. But it is also more than an introduction because you learn some pretty cool advance skills like building macros. The author is excellent at explaining and giving instructions. If you follow along with the sample files available with the book, without too much effort, you can become savvy in excel. You even learn some important methodology for data visualization and industry standards for preparing professional reports for your manager. All this, very accessible for a newbie! The for Dummies series don’t get enough credit for the awesome work they do!

Apparently, you needn't bother if you're using a Mac.
An almost-buried one-liner can be found on p.3 of the introduction, in the middle of the page:"Please note that this book is not applicable to Microsoft Excel for Mac."Well, shiver me timbers. That would have been mighty helpful to know before purchasing, matey.

Vital Big-Picture Skills
This book not only goes into the details of report and dashboard creation, but it also gets into big-picture ideas, like how to organize your workbooks, or when to use one chart instead of another. Many other Excel books show how to do something, but not why. The big-picture ideas in this book set it apart, and make it a necessary inclusion in your Excel library.
