RX For Stubborn Dry Spots : A Penetrating ,In Depth Solution !
Be prepared for a legs workout ! These aerator shoes worked in penetrating my clay soil ,as the spikes are certainly well designed ,in penetrating this heavy clay soil of mine . A few days prior to these aerator being delivered,I had applied Soft Soil with a hose end sprayer .Once the aerator shoes were delivered ,I fitted these shoes to an old pair of work boots .These aerator shoes are a lot easier to fit these boots ,before putting these boots on your feet .Once I put these boots on ,I started walking in rows across my yard and discovered the real effort came ,when I had to extract the spikes from the soil by lifting each foot .The spikes penetrated the soil easily however ,but the extracting the shoes with each step is what led to my getting out of breath a few times .One other hint that helps in using these aerator shoes worked,is that I used these shoes in the early morning hours ,just after daybreak ,when there was a heavy coating of due on the grass .This allowed me to see where I had stepped with these aerator shoes and allowed to step on a few missed spots ,especially as I maneuvered along the edges of some of my flower beds and front walkway .It has been a week since I went over my lawn with these aerator shoes and I especially like the results I am seeing ,especially in a big dry spot ,I.e. a hydrophobic soil spot . This dry spot is now absorbing water ,rather than having the water runoff from this dry spot ,the water is now “ soaking in” to this former dry patch . Note I did use Soft Soil ,in combination with these aerator shoes ,but this combination has led to a vast improvement of this stubborn dry spot in its ability to absorb water .

Quick and Easy Aeration option
Easy to use, seem to work well, deep nails to penetrate your lawn, and you can aerate your lawn as fast as you can walk. once you get the hang of walking with 2" spikes on your feet its pretty slick. I'm hoping this helps my lawn grow stronger this summer.

These Work Well!
I was very skeptical that these would work, but they work great! I watered the lawn THOROUGHLY every day for a few days prior to using them, but they definitely work. They go deep enough as well that you can feel the differing makeup of your soil at various points in the yard which is helpful to know when you're planting other things, which is a bonus.Make sure you use the included wrench to make sure they're fully tightened before you use them. They came pre-assembled but needed a little tightening and they were easy to hook to my shoes. They also provide a quick start guide that tells you where to put the straps depending on your shoe size which takes the guess work out of it.Great product!UPDATE: The included multi-tool just saved the day when I was changing out sprinkler heads today and the earth and grass had grown around and over the sprinkler body! Bonus!

It worked but i should have picked the other one
This worked & did the job.. Thank goodness they gave i that little shovel with it. if I were to do it again, I would have upgraded for the more expensive one that has the shield over the spikes. So when you put your foot up, it clears out the extra dirt. Lesson learned. Go for the other one if u have the extra money.

Impressive item
Aerator strap on over shoes or boots. I used an old pair of work boots for stability. They worked extremely well for my yard. Take your time and get accustomed to the spikes before you take off. I used them the last three cuttings of my yard before seeding- fertilizing in September. I was very impressed with this item. I would definitely recommend

Nice concept but tough on your legs
This is a nice and cheap idea of aerating one's lawn. I walked across my lawn after detaching and clearing the dead grass and could see the aerated holes and sometimes would pull clumps of soil. The act of digging the spikes into the soil and pulling out is a strenuous task and at the end of the day my leg muscles were aching. My recommendation is to pace oneself and do this across the span of multiple days - I'll be doing this multiple times a year.
