Got this bass for fly-out gigs now I'm playing it all the time.
I wanted a small bass to fit in the overhead compartment of air planes. I can't believe how solidly built this bass is for the money! It sounds just like a P-bass, thick and meaty. I started getting compliments on it's sound after just a few riffs at a sound check on a VERY large stage. The humbucker that comes with it is just fine but i swapped it for a EMG 35P4 (the pickup fits right in but the solderless pots don't fit on top of a battery, so get the regular pots you have to solder) but that's the only "upgrade" I felt compelled to make and frankly, it's not really necessary.P.S. order the Fender 099-1521-106 Urban Short Scale Bass Gig Bag with this bass! It's the only one that fits like a glove and is WORTH THE WAIT if it's on back order.

Nice bass, decent price
I've had this bass for about two weeks. The body and headstock fit and finish is quite good with a deep clearcoat and visually impressive silver metalflake finish. The black racing stripe is within the clear finish, not applied over it. The black headstock is a very nice accent to the monochrome look and multi-layer black pickguard. The rosewood on the neck is very nice, but the frets have a bit of end protrusion, which is not unusual for an inexpensive bass. It's not that difficult to dress the fret ends with an appropriate file, or one can just ignore the fact that the fret tips can be felt. The bridge is string-through; I'm not one who believes this makes a lot of difference, but it's a nice touch that's seldom found in inexpensive basses. Make sure to buy strings longer than the 30" scale length to allow proper stringing.Sound-wise, the bass has good attack, powerful sound and plenty of depth with the stock roundwound strings. I'm usually a flats player but I find the sound attractive and very usable for blues and classic rock with the factory rounds, which I will let age for a couple of years while I play it. Volume and tone knobs are standard issue, and both work well without crackles or problems. The output jack is mounted in a metal plate, which provides a bit of insurance against cracking a plastic PG used for the jack..similar to those in P-basses. Be smart and loop your cable through the strap anyway. The passive humbucker has some real grit, especially on the bottom two strings. That grit reminds me a little of a 60's Gibson mudbucker, which is a really nice rock sound.Balance is not bad, with the natural balance keeping the neck essentially level with my hands off the bass and a slippery strap. The basswood body is a bit heavier than I expected but nothing like a J bass. The neck is fast and easy to play, and the bass is easy to play quickly. In my case the bass came with an acceptable setup, but I did fine-tune it a little and set the intonation, which was off from the factory - never a surprise.Overall, don't worry about whether you know the name of the endorser, concentrate on what this bass brings to the table in a nice, highly playable package.

Amazing Buy -- Get One Before It's Too Late!
Love it instantly! Just the right size for me. Being short, I was struggling something awful with my old red G & L -- I couldn't even play it worth a damn anymore as my hands are getting a little stiff these days. This Mikey Way fits me perfectly. Amazingly lightweight! What a pleasant surprise. My old bass weighs about a ton compared to this flashy little number. I am not the type of person to buy the first bass I see based only on looks and size, so the fact that this lower priced instrument is a terrific buy, I should say that they are really taking a loss. The quality is worth at least $5 to 600.00. Get this bass if you are strapped for bucks and need something easier and faster to play because it is a steal at $299.99 -- It is a must have for anyone who keeps at least two basses. This is my third.
