CAF Amish Heavy Duty 800 Lb Mission Pressure Treated Porch Glider (4 Foot, Dark Walnut Stain)

I'm giving this glider 3 stars only because of the difficulty with the assembly instructions. I've assembled countless items of furniture over the years, and the most common problem is the assembly instructions - either a lack of instructions, or inadequate instructions, or instructions that have been translated and have become almost meaningless. This glider included instructions that were "wordy" with very limited illustrations. The illustrations that were there were photocopied poorly and details were almost blacked out. No indicators existed to show "front and back" or 'top and bottom" of the pieces, so one of the tasks that I had completed had to be taken apart and put back together. The glider is heavy and will accommodate those big guys who come visiting on holiday family gatherings. It glides nicely - the appearance is as shown in the picture. Real problems are the assembly...by the time I was finished, I was so darn irritated that I hated the bench to pieces. Had to take a few days to get over it. At least it's not a piece of junky workmanship!!! It IS well built...but why on earth do these manufacturers keep cutting corners in their assembly instructions!!! What would the cost be to them to have the explanations written by a person who CAN write and who has an understanding of the English language!!!

We ordered the unfinished version and I thought it might be helpful to share our project experience. First of all the product arrived slightly ahead of the estimated delivery date. It was complete and undamaged on arrival. You can see the result of our work in the pic. Here is what it took to achieve the result. The first thing that we did was to apply two coats of an Exterior Semi Gloss Paint & Primer to the individual pieces prior to assembly. You will need a little bit of space to di that. Avoid having too much paint on the brush and after drying inspect for drips or runs and remove with a single edged razor and sandpaper. Assembly was pretty straightforward. Read the instructions and follow them word for word, particularly with the part where you are connecting the bench to the base with the glider arms. I did it wrong at first because I thought I knew what I was doing but then went back and carefully read the instructions and it cleared up my little mistakes. It works perfectly and is very solid. Assembly took about an hour and it helps to have a buddy but not required. We finished the project by applying putty to all of the screw holes and then after sanding smooth (the putty) we applied a topcoat of paint. Basically we are very proud of the result and we love the product!!!

Even with below freezing temps in the mornings, I enjoy sitting in the glider while the dog does her outdoor business.Very sturdy and well made, assembly was simple and straight-forward (I did it solo without a helper in no more than 30 minutes - it does help to have the right tools).My wife and I are both fairly big people and we can comfortably sit together without feeling squeezed and enjoy the smooth gliding action.Some screw fasteners are countersunk fairly deep, but do not detract from the overall appearance or function of the glider.It has been exposed to heat, direct sunlight, rain, cold and shows no signs of wear - I have a tarp to cover it now that winter has set in.My wife wanted a glider under the new pergola we built, and she is happy... which makes me happy!

I absolutely love this glider. I bought it for my Mom for her Mothers Day Gift. I can not wait to see her eyes when I give it to her! It is strong, sturdy and a beautiful piece of furniture for her front porch! I put it together by myself before my husband got home and he was amazed at the end result! Simply WOW! The quality of this glider exceeded my standards...very solid..glider is smooth..just beautiful! Took about an hour to assemble..just amazed at the quality of this piece!! I bought the 4’ glider comfortably fits two people!!

Very easy to assemble by myself, but I did need a second person to help carry it into position. I had to drill a misaligned hole on the glider, but still VERY happy with both items! We ordered ours with the white semi-solid stain and it arrived damp. After a day in the sun it was completely dry, so just don't plan on using it the same day you assemble. We purchased 2 chairs and a glider. One chair had 1 broken slat on the front (either over tightening or right at a knot), but I was able to contact the builder directly and he mailed me a replacement slat the next day. Fantastic customer service all around!

Beautiful, sturdy bench. So pleased with this purchase! It has a nice glide to it (not a huge range of motion but I honestly don't like ones that move too much.) Only complaint is the instructions for putting it together. Nothing is labeled and the pictures are terrible. Even the video is no good.... But me and my 10 year old son got it done :)

Glider is attractive, well-constructed, has smooth motion, and is hands down the quietest glider that I have ever come across. Glider is relatively easy to assemble, but is easier with two people. All bolt holes and most screw holes are pre-drilled. Seat, back, arms, and frame ends are pre-assembled, but need to be bolted or screwed together. Assembly requires 7/16 and 9/16 wrenches, 9/16 socket or ratcheting wrench, and screw gun. Bit for screws is included in screw package. Our glider arrived with a broken seat slat on the bottom front edge, but simple call to phone number in instructions and prompt courteous service from the seller had a new slat with pre-drilled holes and proper stain color in just a few days. Definitely would recommend this seller and this product.
