unimpressive
Update: junk. Threw it out. It dispenses food at random. Not when scheduled, and when not scheduled to. Plus all the other problems with it, but not actually dispensing food when programmed to is a deal killer. This thing works, for the most part, so I guess it's better than others (why is it so hard to make an automatic cat feeder?!). But here's what's wrong, IMO:1) battery compartment is tight so hard to get the batteries in.2) power switch is on bottom so if there's food in the feeder you risk dumping it all out when turning on or off (same deal when changing batteries). Can't separate base from food storage bin so need a helper to hold the whole thing together while you tip it so gently. Or hold your breath and turn it upside down and rest it on the top lid while you change batteries.3) Hopper slope doesn't seem steep enough so food doesn't slide down: the thing needs frequent jiggling (every 4 or 5 meals?) to move food to center of feeder so it falls into bowl.4) The remote is silly. Seems like technology from the 90's.5) battery level indicator on remote only, not unit. So it can show full charge( of remote's batteries) but not feed your cats if the feeder's out of batteries.6) When batteries get low, starts feeding randomly, not as programmed.7) removing the bowl for cleaning requires tipping or lifting unit which can dump cat food everywhere if not done when empty.8) no plug-in option9) hopper started squeaking on operation after 2nd week of use.

Works sometimes.
Somewhat ok for setting an eating schedule but I notice it sometimes gets stuck, just with regular dry food like it says. I came home in the afternoon and she hadn't eaten because nothing came out, and to top that off I hit manual and three pieces fell out...needless to say I had to hit manual about 10-12 times because sometimes nothing comes out but when it works it works good. She hasn't busted it open yet but if stuff like that keeps happening then I'm probably gonna come home to an empty container. After 2 weeks i decided I'm gonna have to return it. I come home and see my puppy still hasn't eaten, maybe it's just a faulty system but I'm gonna try something else

Rockstar feeder!
Two months after purchase....Zero problems with this feeder. It's about the size of a small coffee maker and doesn't take up a lot of space. The portion size is perfect, we use Merrick Whole Earth Farms kibble which is small sized. Set for three daily feedings.Super easy set up, I opted to not record a voice message because I thought it was silly. Just know the our feeder came with a pre-recorded message in Chinese that plays right before the food dispenses. During the first week we woke up thinking someone was in our house (5:00 am feeding time)because we heard a voice and then the food sliding down the hopper..lolOur cats are not interested in knocking the lid off to get into more food but a couple of strips of painters tape is enough to secure it.Would definitely recommend this feeder.

Batteries run out too fast
I initially wrote a positive review of this product because I was only using it while we were out of town. When I started programming to feed my cat nightly so that he wouldn't wake me up begging in the middle of the night, that's when I realized that this thing has terrible battery life. I have to replace the batteries typically once every 3 weeks. They really should have included a power adapter and just had the batteries be a backup. It was somewhat difficult to program, but overall it served its purpose of feeding the cat while we were out of town. It's just not as useful as a daily use cat feeder. I also don't like the fact that it could just run out of batteries while we were gone and then our cat wouldn't be fed. I've replaced it with a SuperFeeder and am so far liking that much better.

Good feeder and US Measurements
this is a great machine. the downfall is that it is battery only and you can't change that. but we purchased rechargeable batteries and replace just before going out of town. But that does mean you have to watch it a lotAlso, so you know US measurements: you can feed up to three times and 10 portions per time. Each portion (upon measuring) is .125 cups, so you can do up to 1.25 cups of food per feeding. This is great for cats, but I don't know about dogs. I use Royal Cannin food for cats. Maybe it measures different with smaller food (most likely) this food is 5mm x 2mm.

Stopped working after a few months
Was doing great until today. Setup was easy, and it worked great for a few months. It had issues with picking up the dry dog kibble around the edges, but that was easily remedied by keeping it full. Today unfortunately, it completely stop working. When I pressed manual dispense it just give a flashing red then purple light. Sometimes it dispense some kibble, and other time it just get stuck. Kibble were of average size. Nothing different was done to it. I even removed the kibble to see if feeder would run without it, but it didn't. I really wished it would work.

Has some issues, but okay overall
We've had this for about 8 months now and it's been pretty good so far. Be warned, if you feed 2+ meals a day it will drain your batteries like nobody's business. Our C batteries from Amazon were drained every 3 weeks. We ended up investing in rechargeable batteries and now it lasts much longer (~6 weeks).Another issue is that sometimes, about once every 6-8 weeks, it randomly stops dispensing (even if the batteries are charged). Luckily, my cats let me know when that happens via loud meowing, haha. I have to switch the power tab on and off, then reprogram with the remote and it fixes itself. So I wouldn't trust this to feed my pets while I'm on vacation. Overall, it's meh but I wouldn't repurchase.

but I can see how easy it would be for a inquisitive or hungry cay ...
Works well, but I can see how easy it would be for a inquisitive or hungry cay could just lift the lid up because it is just sitting loosely on top. Luckily our cat doesn't care.
