Well researched and well presented book
This book is a very well researched book on a subject that most people either know nothing about or prefer to ignore. After suffering a great deal of pain, especially to the neck, shoulders and arms, so much so that I had begun to have real problems just getting dressed in the morning I took to the internet to find out what could be causing it. Thankfully, I came across various websites that dealt with the high oxalates found in many plant foods, grains and spices and realised that I was consuming many of them: spinach, almonds, other nuts, buckwheat and wholemeal grains etc. etc. After further searching, I came across Sally K Norton’s and the VP foundation’s websites where I found really well researched information regarding oxalate toxicity and how it affects us.In this book these issues are dealt with in depth and backed up with a great deal of research. What is also really commendable is the guidance given on how to tackle a low oxalate diet - how to do this gradually so as to allow the body to cope with stored oxalate release which can cause inflammation and a flare up of symptoms if not handled properly.I cannot recommend this book highly enough, if the option were there I would give it more stars!

A game changer for chronic illness!
This book is a must read for anyone suffering from chronic health issues, however big or small! After 12 years of suffering with a huge range of debilitating symptoms, from severe chronic fatigue, muscle and joint pain and dysautonomia to an ever growing list of food allergies, I am finally starting to heal using the information inside this book.Having spent a decade trying every diet and supplement out there, spending tens of thousands on doctors visits, tests and treatment protocols, the answer was hidden in the “healthy” plant foods I was eating - oxalate. This book is well-researched, thought-provoking and delivers clear, easy-to-follow steps to help you take control of your health. Even if you feel like you've tried everything, buy this book and give the low-oxalate diet a try – you won't regret it!

good content but horrible writing
the content is good but it is horrible to read confusingly repating alll over the same, there is enough content for a 20 pages book well written. However I appreciate the effort made in the reseach and divulgation if the subject

This book is a must read for EVERYONE
This book is a must-read if you are interested in nutrition and health. Today's dogma around plant-based diets risks doing people serious harm, because not all plants are equally good for you. Some will kill you stone dead. Some will give you kidney stones, or dozens of possible other health conditions. If you like eating plants, as many of us do, this book will help you know which to avoid, and which to go for.

A life changer !!!
I saw all the symptoms I’ve ever had in my long life being explained by oxalates !!! The only reason I found this out was because of developing kidney stones and researching myself, as the hospital didn’t offer any advice !!! As a result I’ve cut down slowly as Sally recommends. It’s been uncomfortable at times as the stored (sharp) oxalates are released, but it’s something I’ll continue with as I can already see improvements in certain areas.I can understand why most nutritionists and drs give poor (plant based) advice, because that’s what they’ve been taught. Although Oxalic poisoning was a diagnosable condition until it was phased out around the 1970’s, presumably because there isn’t a pill for it !!! Sally deserves an award for all her many years of suffering, her solid research, all her brilliant interviews and finally a book !!! I bought two copies, one for me and one to hand around as I see so many symptoms in people who have no idea why. Big thanks Sally 👍

A must read for anyone eating 'healthy food'
The book is so well written and easy to understand, anyone with serious health issues that are not being resolved by the medical profession must look into their oxalate consumption. I was very ill for years eating almond milk/butter/flour, tonnes of spinach, dark chocolate, sweet potatoes until coming across Sally's work on oxalates. I had kidney stones, low calcium, cloudy urine, arthritic joints, food intolerances, generally very unwell and unable to work. I am now 2 years down the line of cutting down on oxalates and with Sally's help, I am recovering well, but it is a slow process and the guidance given in this book will help a lot of people regain their health and realise how dangerous a diet with high oxalate is.

very helpful for a minority of people and scare mongering for the majority of people
Very helpful for a minority of people effected by the sydrome and the result of a huge experience of the author in overcoming her health issues. However it is liable to make the majority of people unaffected by oxalate accumulation unnecessarily paranoid of regular healthy foods. She fails to emphasise the regulation of oxalates in the body and the type of health ennervations that lead to a failure to regulate oxalate balance in the body, such as poor microbiome.
