What can I say about the fittings I bought they are pvc for potable water works just like the ones you would purchase in a local hardware store but I sat at home and ordered them

Not a union for repair
The picture makes the union appear to be a maintenance union, which it is not. A maintenance union is a union without a stop, so you can slide is completely over one side to make a repair on an existing line.
