Q: Can this item be placed outside?

Mine is hanging in my screened in lanai with no problem.

Q: How long can this rotate for?

It rotated about 2 full days before the batteries died. The remote control does not work so it must be turned of manually.

Q: How to make it go slower? It says you can lower the speed but it’s just an image of a box that’s says +/- 5

It comes with a remote control and with more than one speed. I bought it specifically because I didn't want my disco ball to go too fast. Most of the others seemed to have faster speeds, from what I could tell.

Q: Will this take rechargeable batteries? Mine is not

I can't say for sure, but my experience with rechargeable batteries in my grandkids toys and gaming controllers is that they work fine. Since they are the same size, I don't know why they wouldn't.
