This is not a method book for beginners. This is a technique book and oh boy the exercises are challenging. The book is essential for budding classical guitar players.

I love the ease of playing the music. And it's detailed well.

This is an excellent book for learning and developing your technique.

I only just began to crack this book, but I have already benefited from the exercises and advice it provides. I used to play classical quite a bit years ago, then dropped mid-life. This book has helped give me a jump start without having to pay lots of money for private lessons. I'm so glad I got it!

I am a self-taught guitarist who after 30+ years has decided to try and really lean to play. I alternate between an acoustic/electric and an archtop. Neither is a nylon stringed instrument.I'm not a classical player and have no ambition to become one. What I do want is to improve my playing technique.Some aspects of playing are style specific. Others are universal. This is the area in which Pumping Nylon is proving to be a valuable study guide.Addressing the strings to ensure clear; in-tune notes; Developing finger independence; Improving fretboard reach: These are aspects of technique that all guitarists need to master. For me, Pumping Nylon is perfectly filling this need. In the process, it's also forcing me to sharpen my reading skills.I'm giving the book four stars simply because I've not yet looked at any of the right-hand studies. Assuming that those studies are as good as the ones targeting the left hand, the book deserves the fifth star.If you have aspirations to become more than a causal strummer, this book can take you a good distance down the path to becoming a true player.Highly recommended.

Were I to recommend one book for classical guitar technique, it would be this one. It also does wonders for steel string/electric/bass technique.

Very good book, I has a lot of material to work, I know that when I Finish this book I'll have made a great improvement on my technique.
