Very Pleasantly surprised!
This review will be in 2 parts. Order and delivery, because I was pleasantly surprised by the fast turnaround from ordering and, now, receiving after just two days. This was ordered late July 1st, and this is July 3rd. Therefore, thank you very much Amazon. Let's get down to business................ If anyone has had "cowboy" coffee, you know it's good and strong. But I don't live on the open plain and eat from a chuck wagon. The problem is there is way too much coffee waste for one person trying to figure out the right measure of coffee to water. Most times, it's the coffee that suffers. And for you non-cowboys out there, do not put the coffee grinds down the sink drain, not unless you want a big mess and an angry wife! So, here's the other kicker. I did some online investigation, which brought me to Good Housekeeping reviews, and this Braun was second overall in all the categories for performance, coffee taste, brewing, ease of operation, and much more. Now you know why I bought this machine. I've said this over and over again, sometimes you have to ignore the customer reviews and pay attention to the pros! And the price is a definite value. Well, that's the first half of this review. Next, unbox, read the instructions (I'm a huge fan of this), for tips and tricks and to stay away from, "Oh no!" Or "Oh s***! Trust me, I am tired of wasting my coffee. I enjoy cowboy cooking but this urban man needs to control expenses, but not at the expense of taste. This review will continue.....................see ya next time soon. Coffee, homemade bread, hot pepper jelly, and the 4th! This is the final stage........that first mug of coffee. Following the directions for a regular mug of coffee and waiting for the tone, the coffee was hot. I added my creamer, and oh, what a great-tasting coffee. There are many coffee maker brands from inexpensive to high-end, but paying $70 for a Braun, which was recommended by Good Housekeeping review, is a winner. Kitchen appliances are an investment; why not make a good one? Now, back to my great-tasting coffee. July 22, 2025..........I have a post script to this review.................... Regardless of what brand of coffee you use, all coffee has an oil that will leave a residue on the the craffe, the gold basket, even the plastic on or near the coffee when brewing. It is important to wash those that come in direct contact with the grounds with a dish detergent, and to wipe down those that are in indirect contact to keep the scale and "oil steam" clean. This ensures a great cup of coffee every time. And keeps your machine operating properly!

Don't buy this one
I bought this in April of 25 and it worked great for about 6 months, and that's when it started leaking. Basically water drips from the piece holding the coffee filter and drips down to the hot plate and steams like crazy. When I called customer service I was first told that the handle on the coffee pot had to be pointed straight out. I was also told to press down hard on the coffee filter setup before brewing. It all seemed ridiculous, especially when I was told to take a video of the machine making a pot of coffee and send it to them for review. Seriously? After reading other reviews I realized that there's a defect with this pot and, until they come out with a new model, I wouldn't take a chance on this one. What I have found is that there is a piece on the back of the cone that holds the filter that locks into the back of the coffee maker to keep it secured down. Over time, in my case a few months, this piece weakens and allows the brewer to leak. If you pull this piece out to stretch it, it will lock in tighter and you might get a few non-leaky pots of coffee this way. I'm junking it for a Cuisinart instead. The customer service lady was pleasant but their process is nuts. All they need to do is send me a new part or tell me that they'd send me a new machine, but they didn't.

Well, it makes coffee...
Lots of features, lots of complexity. Loads of engineering went into the brewer, but the carafe + lid apparently were an afterthought, because the carafe has weak plastic hinges for the lid, undersized, and they break easily. Setting some of the features is clunky.

Could not get the coffee maker to work at first and then ...
When we first received this Braun coffee maker, our first impression is it is a good looking coffee maker. What attracted us to this coffee maker was the option to adjust temperature (we like it hot) and the strength (we like it bold). First off, the coffee maker went into cleaning mode and wouldn't stop after several water refills trying to run it out. The instructions say the cleaning light only comes on when there is scale in the coffee maker and this was the first time we used it as a new coffee maker. We immediately filed for a return (super easy thanks to Amazon's return policy on this product). Added a video and if you listen to the audio, you may sense my frustration as after a few "clean cycles" I decided to add coffee and it came out really yucky - what a waste! Then the coffee maker decided to work after all. The "auto on" button never lit up - we are wondering if that means our machine was defective?. We were able to select the bold and the hot temperature and finally able to set the clock (that needs to be done as it governs everything else). We were never able to adjust the time to auto shut off (default is 2 hours). The touch pad did not seem to work well. The coffee maker is loud and when we finally got it to work - it made an irritating clicking sound every few minutes. We used the included gold filter and our coffee ended up with a dark grittiness. Using our "go to" Melitta paper filter (Cone #4) made the coffee taste a lot better than with the reusable gold cone filter - no grit and less bitterness. We compost so the filters go into the compost pile versus the garbage. Prior to this coffee maker we had ordered a 14 C programmable Calphalon that we loved (my brother "borrowed it"), but this Braun 14 cup programmable coffee maker seemed to have the same features for less money. We have returned this Braun coffee maker after thoroughly cleaning it and repacking it in the original box (looks like new) and will order another Calphalon. Our overall opinion is the display on this Braun coffee maker doesn't work properly (pressure sensitive buttons do not respond all the time and instructions are poor) and the coffee doesn't taste as good as with the Calphalon. In case you too are looking at the variety of bold coffee makers offered on Amazon, we had previously tried the Hamilton Beach bold coffee maker and also didn't feel like the coffee stayed warm enough and the taste was't really bold and flavorful. Hope all this helps you decide if this is the right coffee maker for you.

Great coffee maker
Great coffee maker for everyday use. Carafe does not drip. Sneak a cup feature is best I have had. Doesn’t let any drop fall out and hit the warming plate. Programming was non intuitive but works well when I laid the instructions out next to the machine and followed them carefully. Fortunately I shouldn’t have to do that often. Easy to remove grounds when brewing is finished without getting your fingers steamed. Loaded with features and they all work well. Very happy with the purchase.

it's pretty fast to brew!
I personally really like this coffee pot! I've had another brand that looks exactly like this one, but didn't last over 5 years. I do hope this one lasts much longer. I LOVE the look, black and stainless steel is my look for all my kitchen ware and most utensils. I will say, it is quiet noisy when the brew cycle is completed, which doesn't bother me, it tells me it's almost done brewing, then I hear the chime sound. I would highly recommend this coffee pot if you can get over the grunting sound when it's done.
