One of my cats was urinating in an area there is a potted plant. I cleaned the area with a good enzyme cleaner and once I was sure the smell was gone, I started with an upside down chair mat but that didn't deter him. I bought this to go around the front side away from the wall and he stopped immediately. There is a way to adjust the intensity. I have it set at the lowest and touched it with my hand, it didn't hurt-just an annoyance so he got the message to stay away. Batteries last a long time.

The control unit for the shock matt quit working two weeks after the return window closed. Despite having a new battery, the unit will not stay on.

Does exactly what I wanted. Keeps my senile old beagle off our new living room carpet as she completely destroyed our previous living room.

Love this training pad. Easy to use and definitely keeps the pets off the couch. Doesn't hurt them and they learn quickly with it.
