This pretty little gadget is clearly like a so-waited Birthday-gift!
I live in Hungary (Eastern-Europe), and already have a 4K UHD Blu-ray player from an other Japanese electronic equipment producer. But that player plays only European B2 Blu-ray and DVD 2 region coded Discs - fortunately the 4K Discs don't have region code! I have a bit special taste in movies, because usually I don't care mainstream productions or cult-films - just some. But the movie distribution (on disc), is total mess, and a hardly understandable process. For example: "Madame Bovary" (Mia Wasikowska), on Blu-ray Disc, released at US 2 years earlier than in Europe, or "Rust Creek" (Hermione Corfield), is released on BD just in the USA. Finally, my third favourite actress (beside Mia Wasikowska and Saoirse Ronan), Kate Lyn Sheil's movies are barely available at my continent. Therefore I need to buy movies from America, or just now Australia! But US released movies have A1 BD and DVD 1, Australian released have DVD 4 region code. So, I had no choice, I must bought a region-code-free Blu-ray player, which I got only in the USA. This unit is the most simple in SONY's budget player range. A small, lightweight, rectangular box, with hidden tray, two button (on/off and open/close), an USB port on front - there’s no display. On rear: connector for external power supply, a single HDMI, an ethernet socket (for smart functions which I don't use), and a coaxial-digital (audio) output. Latter was important to me, cause without this, there would have been no sound for my stereo setup. I needed some accessories: US/EU connector adapter (the unit works with all voltage), coax-digital cable, DAC, RCA cable-pair, but after I bought and connected everything, a miracle happened: I could watch my American Discs! This is an used unit (demo-player by the seller), but I got it pristine condition and for friendly price ($89). The configuration is fast with the simple menu. The player reading Discs in no time. But most important test is the picture quality, what is better than I expected from a budget player! With Blu-ray Discs almost perfect - my UHD-BD player is more sophisticated unit, and it cost four times as much, than the SONY, but latter yet competitive, compared the more expensive player. This is true also with DVD, considering the lower-resolution of the format. (The unit doesn't have upscaler, but my TV has one, therefore anything alright!) My sole problem is the remote. I don't have big hands or sausage-fingers, but the remote yet too small, with tiny buttons - for example the pause-button, which I frequently use. And, I can't understand, why not has all Blu-ray/DVD player backlit remote in the 21th century? If you want some like these, you can pay $600 or more! It's simply ridiculous. In sum: this is a little box, with full of surprise! Simple, practical, competitive compared also higher quality standard. Finally solved my old problem with region codes. This purchase was one of the most smart decision of my life! I'm so pleased with this gadget. Recommended for all, who like simple, and good-working things.

NOT ALL REGION! Only Region 1/A!!! FALSE ADVERTISING!!
This product claims to be an all region player that works for discs from around the world in the title and description, but the plate on the bottom says it only works for region 1 DVDs and region A Blu-ray Discs! I tested my international DVDs and it doesn’t recognize them. This product is mislabeled and I’m going to be getting a full refund because this is not the product that I intended to purchase based on the “All Region” description! False advertising! Also, the box was damaged with hole poked in the middle and there is staining on one corner of the box, seemingly from some liquid damage in transit.

Satisfaction found sufficient.
Totally worth it. After a boxed set of Blakes 7 was found to not function on my existing disc player due to regional restrictions! Tried some suggested hacks which proved to not work in my case. Price was low anyway.

Does exactly what it's advertised to do
I needed this to be able to play the several dozen DVDs (some blu ray, some pre-blu ray), and this machine does exactly that. Turns out to be the exact same Sony DVD player I recently purchased for US produced DVDs. (when I ordered that one, my old PAL/NTSC player still worked). Therein lies the rub. I have to put a cardboard box over the unit I'm not using else the remote controls will operate both devices at the same time. Could I just unplug the US version of the DVD player? Yes, I could. But I find it convenient to have both players loaded with DVDs, especially when the DVDs contain multiple episodes of a TV series. Covering the one I'm not using is not a big deal. Both reside behind cabinet doors that for the most part do the same job. But if I aim the remote at the wrong angle, I still run the risk of firing up both players simultaneously. So, the cardboard box method is still useful to me. Streaming is okay if you don't mind paying over and over again for the same viewing. If you have a library of DVDs, this is the way to go. This unit plays US and German made DVDs. You don't need a second unit.

Works great, but IMPORTANT TO KNOW SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGION B BLU-RAYS
Works great, plug & play easy installation, great picture and sound. HOWEVER, THE FIRST TIME I PUT IN A REGION B BLU-RAY DISC, THE MACHINE WOULDNT READ IT. I looked through the in-box manual and even googled the issue, but couldn’t find a solution until I spoke with a friend who instructed me to PUT THE DISC IN THE TRAY, THEN PRESS THE BLUE BUTTON ON THE REMOTE (YELLOW FOR REGION A, BLUE REGION B, RED REGION C…). THE TRAY WILL THEN CLOSE AND PROPERLY PLAY THE DISC. Otherwise the machine has played all my discs effortlessly thus far. It seems to play all other region DVDs automatically, without any special instructions. Seems it’s just the Blu-Rays that require this special color-button remote fix.

Very nice and compact, about the size of a cigar box. Works well with Samsung Smart TV. Does everything it is advertised to do. It plays all 3 regions of Blu-ray and all regions of DVD. Time will tell for durability.

The Blu Ray player is basic and reliable. It’s a no-frills product. As advertised, it plays all DVDs and Blu ray discs from any region… as long as the disc is not damaged. It is a very tiny piece of equipment. Does the job.
