Actually, I'm thinking it looks like they (hopefully) changed the metal body portion (the non-spring part) to a slightly softer metal/temper so that these things stop shattering and breaking in half the second or third time you use them. See the photos of these with ok springs but snapped in half. For this price Covert Instruments gives you just the one updated tool.

Q: How do I get a replacement hinge pin tool this one got stuck in hinge and spring unwound

I am interested in an answer to this, as well. I have one which broke on a stubborn hinge pin.

Q: I need a replacement hinge pin removal tool! but i don't see one that is sold individually. how can i get a replacement?

I bought this set of two for that reason thinking that I only needed the hinge pin remover. But....while installing crown molding, the other nail set in the set was extremely useful. No hammering needed; one pull on the spring and the nail was countersunk.

A good buy

I received it with damaged package and small rusted area on the tools. Since I bought them at very good offer I didn't returned the item. I cleaned the rusted part and oiled it. Works well and will see how long it will last.
