Make Sure You Do All the Voices!
First of all, we ADORED CeCe Bell’s El Deafo, so when we learned her husband also writes books, we were so excited. These two team up to bring us a Venus Flytrap and his goat assistant, Nina (whose voice I’d like to do in the inevitable TV series - my husband thinks it’s perfect). We LOVE this series and wish there were dozens more of these books. The antics, adventure and madcap action of Inspector Flytrap and Nina the Goat are ones we want to hear about forever. It’s my favorite to read to our eight year old and he thinks they’re hilarious. We’re excited to read whatever else Tom Angleberger has written and especially hope for more from CeCe Bell.

Meet President Horse G. Horse
The mane characters (all animals) are: a flytrap Inspector Detective Agency named Flytrap (the narrator) who’s a genius; a goat named Nina the Goat (who eats EVERYTHING!); and the President of the United States, Horse G. Horse (who’s a horse***, of course) who lives in the White House! Here are some of the “quotes” from President Horse G. Horse:Page 15 “Everyone be quiet! It’s my turn to talk! This is President Horse G. Horse and — HEY! I said HUSH IT UP! And look over here! Eyes on me!”Page 17 “OK … I will also answer questions about my beautiful new presidential limousine! Isn’t it awesome?”(Isn’t it interesting that the date of this book was August 2, 2016! But doesn’t it sound like President Trump?)This book is a PICKLE of laughs! Kudos to the author (Tom Angleberger) and illustrator (Cece Bell).***Do you remember the TV Show, Mr. Ed, for kids that had a song and the lyrics that begins “A Horse is a Horse, of course, … ”. (I didn’t remember about that, but NEAT!)

My 2nd grader is crazy for these books! He can't wait for more to come out! I asked him to tell me the other day, what fictional characters he would like to meet and the first thing he said was Inspector Flytrap and his goat assistant! He was an emergent when he read this a few month's ago, now he is soaring through chapter books.
