Ballistic Tough Jacket MAXX Series Case with Rugged Holster Belt Clip for Standard Size 4.7-inch Apple iPhone 8, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s/6 (Black) - Not Compatible with iPhone Plus 5.5-Inch Screen Size Smartphones

I recently purchased a new iPhone 7, and wanted to make sure it was protected. I sifted through numerous cases on Amazon, and decided that the Ballistic Tough Jacket Maxx was the case for me. I'm not a big fan of cases with clips on them, but I wanted protection on all sides of the phone when it was in my pocket.When I received the case I was impressed by the thickness of the rubber, the solid feel of the rigid back of the case, and the thickness of the screen protector. I found no instructions in the packaging on how to put the case on my phone, but it wasn't hard to get things to fit together. The most confusing part was figuring out which direction the screen protector fit, but after some fiddling, there was only one way it would work.While having a clip on the case does make the case bigger, I've gotten used to having it, and actually like holding the phone with the clip.There are some slight issues I have with the case. First, and least important, is the tab on the side of the cover is too big. It sticks out a third of an inch, and adds unnecessarily to the already large footprint of the case. Second, there are two large openings on the sides of this tab that reduce the amount of protection the cover provides the screen. How likely is it a large projectile stabs through one of these openings? Well, more likely than if the openings were not there. Finally, when the cover is clipped to the back, and you are trying to use the phone, one side of buttons are always obscured -- either you can access the power button, or you can access the volume controls, but if you want to access both, you have to remove the cover from the back of the phone. Still, those are minor issues, and I wouldn't take a star away from the product for those.Where I do take a star away is because of the responsiveness of the touchscreen when using the screen protector. As I mentioned, the screen protector is very thick, so thick I'm surprised it even works. But while it does work, Touches are frequently missed (e.g., not registered by the device) and I have to go back and press harder. It is also very difficult to press the keys along the outsides of the case when the cover is attached to the back of the phone. The phone is still usable in these situations, but the problems are always noticeable, and constantly have to be accounted for.Still, this is a great case providing fantastic protection to what for me is a large investment. Glad to have something like this for those times when something goes wrong.

This is the sixth Ballistic case I have bought (all Tough Jacket or Tough Jacket Maxx) for iPad Minis (2 and 4) and iPhones (5, 6 and 7). Ballistic makes a very good product overall, and is constantly trying to improve it. I have never had a device suffer any damage while in a Ballistic case, despite many drops of both iPads and iPhones (3 kids' worth). This particular model improves on the predecessors by being thinner without sacrificing protection, and it is also easier to remove and does not have the hard plastic connectors that occasionally broke on earlier models. In addition, the screen protector is not integrated into the top part of the case any longer. This was an issue on earlier models, for which the screen protector was difficult to clean and became scarred and pitted over time.So, the screen protector is now easily replaceable. Why not 5 stars? Put simply, the screen protector does not adhere as well to the screen and it is not as firmly held in place as it was on the earlier models. This results in imprecise typing that can be quite annoying, particularly while texting. 2 steps forward, 1 step back. If Ballistic can fix this issue and retain the other great qualities of this case, it will be the best out there--better than Otterbox or Lifeproof or any I have seen.

I have dropped my phone several times since putting this on and glad it was there. You can see you phone bounce when it hits the ground. I would say it is similar to throwing it on a mattress.I knocked a star off because the cover to the charging port is cumbersome. You need one hand to hold the flap (that’s what it is) and one hand for putting the charger into the phone. It’s annoying at times. For day to day use I suppose it offers moderate protection to the charging port, however I made about 20 cuts with a chainsaw with my phone in my pocket and some debris made its way to the port area. I can see this flap ripping off down the road but for now it provides adequate protection despite being cumbersome.I bought my own screen protector because the one that came with it seemed cheap.Bottom line is this case works. It does what is supposed to do. If you drop your phone a lot like me then I definitely recommend.

1st Amazon purchase and did such so I could promptly buy what I think is the best phone case protection around that has a holster. The plastic screen protector is substandard for a Ballistic quality case so I went and got the Tempered Glass Protector which works well with iPhone 7's 3D touchscreen. All worked well for a couple of weeks until one day while putting the holster on my belt the clasp snapped at a stress point. Such happens and it has a Lifetime Warranty and having been under 30 days I am sure they will easily make good on replacing holster clasp. Will keep you posted on how efficient such goes. I now am an Amazon advocate with its amazing delivery service and was already a Ballistic advocate from my experience with past cases I had bought for Samsung phones and now most at work use Ballistic after seeing the construction quality and protective resiliency the cases offer these expensive devices.
