Q: Is there a weight limit?

It is complicated. This transfer board works wonderfully for transport across short distances (a few inches) between wheelchair and bed/toilet chair/shower chair/etc. It will likely support considerable weight across a gap of a few inches. A longer gap between the wheelchair and something like a car seat will result in a significant bend in the board, and the amount of bending will increase with temperature and the weight of the person transferring. If the bend is too much, the board could slip from its supports and you could fall. If you want/need to transfer across gaps larger than a few inches, you should definitely consult with a therapist about the right transfer board for your weight and demands. I weigh about 190 pounds, and I transfer myself alone safely and securely every day using two versions of this transfer board. I use the 30" board for transferring from my bed to my wheelchair (~4" gap), and the 23" board for transferring from my wheelchair to my toilet/shower chair (~ 2" gap). I am frequently by myself, and I take absolutely no chances of a fall by positioning the board correctly every time and moving slowly. As recommended, I use a small towel on top of the boards so I can get the towel between my bottom and the boards and slide more easily across it. Trying to slide on the boards without the towel/cloth/etc. is almost impossible. Get the consultation you need, and be safe.

Yes it is 30 x 12. It was the only size offered. When I received the transfer board there was a paper in the box offering other sizes which is what the rehab professionals use and not near as large or slick as this one. It’s still usable but to much excess to deal with especially if the patient is afraid of the transfer.

Q: what is weight capacity of the board

250lbs. It will "give" in the center, but I find that makes transfers more gentle and easier.
