so far i love this fishing pliers .... i have just used it on one fishing trip so i can not speak to its durability. I used it when i was fishing off a jetty in southern california, catching mostly bonita, mackerel, perch and the occasional sting ray or small leopard shark....worked well removing the hook in those fish ... however think this would work best in freshwater applications where the fish are generally smaller .... can see this taking a hook out of a barracuda.... the sheath and lanyard are a nice touch..... two less things to clutter the box ... make sure you have a rag to clean this before you fold them back in or you will have a crusty mess in there. I tested the pliers with heavy fishing line and also some wire leaders (that i use fo the more toothy fish) ... cut both with no problem at all.
