The way it was
I was one of those lucky ones to have my doctor for 52 years and even though he too had to go the way of new medicine, he always practiced like it was the 1970s. I enjoyed this authors stories and it's a very good read.

Very enjoyable
As a retired RN, I enjoy these type of books. I pres used from1974 through2016. I can relate to everything he's talked about. And absolutely agree with the last chapter.

Great history on medicine.
Reading this book brought me back years! I started Asa a nurse when my husband and I moved to a small town in Nebraska. Coming from a large hospital in Florida as a new bride and nurse I had a lot to learn!! Yes we stood up when the Doctors came in and gave them our seat. We all became fast friends working in this small hospital. This was in 1967, retired as an RN in 2017 from JohnsHopkins All Childrens Hospital...I too saw so many changes. Some good some not so good. Working at JHACH was a wonderful way to end my career. The hospital was so upto date but still allowed us to see our young patients first!!I often miss my carrier but have wonderful memories. My 1st baby was divered by a wonderful family practice doctor. Reading your book it brought thoughts of him back. Thanks gor the memories!

Interesting
Dr. Matlock shares engaging stories of his life as a family doctor. He writes in a way that is both interesting and informative. I enjoyed this book very much.

Charming and Authentic
Reading the stories in this book was like sitting on a big front porch, listening to the stories of a good friend. This is an unpretentious slice of midwestern life in the 1970's. I enjoyed it immensely.

lovely, lovely Read
This book reminded me of one of my all-time favorites, All Creatures Great and Small. Same delightful short stories of different incidents, the only difference is one is people, the other animals. A bit of personal story added in makes you feel acquainted with Dr Matlock. Thoroughly enjoyed the book.
