This wick cost twice as much but if it saves me hassles in cleaning algae it will be worth the cost.

Mildew-ridden after 3 weeks!
Very disappointed with this purchase. I would normally buy similar filters from Home Depot but thought I would chance Amazon. The unit was cleaned with Clorox wipes as usual before installing the new filters. The same water was used as with previous filters but still the outer layers on 2 of the 4 filters were pink within 3 weeks. Would not recommend..
