Q: Can I put heating pads on top?

I am sure you can put heating pads on this, but why would you need to? Heating pads do not as a rule get as hot as hair tools. This pad is designed to protect counter tops etc from the heat of your hair styling tools. They can heat up to 450degrees! This mat is just what I was looking for to protect my new marble look white countertops in my bathroom. Keeps the heat away from the counter top and no scorching!

Q: What is the purpose of the button?

As for the feedback of our customer, sometimes when they picked up there irons, the tools may be fall out, or someting the wire lines would be " fly away " when they took it. so the design of the button is coming which is more is more convenient and safe for you to carry on a trip and not to slip off.

Mine was heat resistant mat only. The mat is a great size and I am totally satisfied with it. Price was also good
