How to Build a Natural Swimming Pool [Kircher, Wolfram, Thon, Andreas, Kingsbury, Noel] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. How to Build a Natural Swimming Pool Review: not an engineering guide, or diy instructions, but more in depth than inspirational - This book will not actually give you plans for building your natural swimming pool, but the presentation and pictures are very lovely. A satiny texture to the book cover is also very nice from a tactile point of view. As for content, I like the flow of information. I think you could use this if you are technically minded to help in making good decisions when drafting your own plans (sizing, hydrology, etc). The end section with the case studies I feel were the most enlightening, because they show what HAS been done and in what context. There is a bit of pricing information, but I would say these are ballpark figures for you to have an idea of the feasibility of different styles. Same goes for the plant guides, in that obviously what works specifically for your microclimate will vary, but the author gives advice on why different plant groupings work well together. Review: Best info out there! - This book is legit! Some just skim over with pretty pictures, this one has case studies showing what goes into those beautiful pictures, what part of the world they’re in, the rough pool plan, details on components used in each pool, how to build if you are okay with it looking like a pond, or want it to be crystal clear like a normal pool, and anywhere in between.

Extremely Detailed
I have already built one natural swimming pool and this book has made me rethink a lot of the things I did the first time. The detail is almost overwhelming but exactly what I need to build an even better pool next time

Informative
If you're wanting to take NPs seriously, buy this, you'll want it on hand. Very technical but there's a wide variety of design choices you'll need to make. Good illustrations, plants chart and the case studies helped me create my unique design plan.

Great detail
Very detailed. I like that it spends so much time discussing the chemistry of natural pools. It has lots of case studies you could use as a guide.

This is a technical book that covers its subject matter comprehensively in an accessible manner. It is well written and illustrated with clear explanations. There is an excellent table that runs for several pages covering useful plant information on: species, sun/shade, height, flowering/growth period, depth zone, growth habitat, estimated level of coexistence, water hardness/pH, nitrogen demands, natural distribution, planting area, plant type and themes. Perhaps an understanding of basic science for the reader might be helpful - although I am great a believer, if you don't understand it - look it up! The chapters are as follows: 1 What is a Naturally Filtrated Swimming Pool? 2 The Development of Natural Pool 3 Basic Considerations for Pool Water 4 Filter Systems and Construction Types 5 Basic Models of Natural Pools 6 A Step by Step Construction Guide 7 Planting Design in and around Natural Pools 8 Animals in the pool? 9 Maintenance 10 Case Studies (in Austria, Germany, UK and USA).

An excellent book. I'd been watching YouTube videos about natural swimming pools and all the various ways to construct and maintain them, which leaves the distinct impression that all you need to do is dig a deep pond, line it, and plant a reed bed and pump your pond water through it. So I got this book, and oh my goodness, what a great reference it is. It explains all the options and combinations in detail, including the problems you'll encounter after a few years if you don't design and plan for them from the outset, as well as the chemistry and biology involved with each design technique. If you want to hire a pool builder to design and build your pool, this will give you the knowledge to have a detailed and well-informed conversation with them, ensuring you get the result you want. If you want to be the project manager and contract out the various jobs, then if you have the management and planning skills, this book will give you a lot of what you need to get started, although personally, I'd still seek professional consultation. If you want to do it all yourself, well, getting the right knowledge is a good start.
