Q: Subjective inquiry, but how effectively can this be used by pianists, since we typically can’t see our feet? The buttons are small and aren’t angled..

My personal opinion is that in your case, any pedal will be an adjustment. As you are learning to use whatever pedal you decide on, (and I do mean learning because there is a skill involved with using one of these while playing ANY instrument) practice with your left foot because your right foot will be used on the sustain more than your left foot on the other piano pedals. The biggest difference between this pedal and every other pedal on the market is durability. I had an Airturn Ped that was light and silent, but broke after 2 years. I have 2 other experiences with the plastic pedals in which they have broken. I am not a big guy, and I do not abuse my equipment. That being said, it is worth the extra few bucks to get this pedal. This thing is easier to use initially and far more durable than the other brands that I have tried. The only modification that I used was adding $4 worth of adhesive rubber feet to the bottom so that it would not slide. (It comes without feet so that guitarists can add velcro to the bottom and put it on their pedalboards) I hope this is helpful!

Q: Will this work with an older iPad? Version 4

Yes, as long as it has Bluetooth 4.0 it will work. iPad Generation 3 and newer have Bluetooth 4.0

Q: Does stomp work with acrobat reader on an ipad?

Yes, it does work with Stomp on modes 2 and 3. However i'd still recommend using a dedicated music sheet app like the ones you'll find on the compatible apps list on Coda's website.
