Great Hammer Drill and Impact Driver kit for the professional or DIYer, powerful, and lightweight
I'm loving this makita combo kit. It comes with a brushless hammer drill,, brushless impact driver, two 2Ah batteries, a charger and a canvas bag that has plenty of room to hold it all plus some. I have only had it for a short time now but both the hammer drill and impact driver have exceeded my expectations. I got these to replace my 10+ year old Dewalt hammer drill and impact driver and these makitas blow them out of the water, obviously. They are compact, powerful, and very light weight which is a huge plus for me. I am an electrician and I use both tools daily with the impact driver being used more often out of the 2. The impact driver is compact, light weight, has plenty of torque and is very powerful. I use the impact driver constantly, every day all day, it has tons of power, the brushless motors are great, more powerful and quiter than the brushed motors, and battery life is really quite impressive, even with the smaller 2 Ah batteries that this kit comes with. And The Hammer drill, what can I say, it is just great as the impact driver. Like the impact, it is very compact and lightweight but packs plenty of power. I needed a hammer drill cuz as an electrician I commonly I have to drill through concrete or brick to run my conduits or put in anchors to mount boxes etc. and this hammer drill is up to any task. I also have to drill holes in metal electical panels all the time and this drill will drill through steel panels like butter. The chuck on this drill is decent, it has a locking plastic chuck, that holds bits fine, I haven't had any bits slip or come loose while drilling, it locks in place and holds bits tightly. I haven't noticed any chuck wobel or anything like some other reviews have mentioned, but also keep in mind, I am an electrician, so drilling clean, perfectly percise holes isn't something I have to worry about. The chuck on this drill is by no means a higher quality chuck, and I'll admit, a better quality, metal chuck would be a lot nicer, but you get what you pay for, thats why this kit doesn't cost as much others. I would NOT recommend this kit If your a cabinet maker or someone whos job requires drilling very precise holes. The 2 Ah batteries that come with this kit are not that big but they still last a good while (I couldn't give you an exact time for the battery life) but they seem to last me a long time, and they charge very quickly, about 15-20 minutes for a full charge, I'm never stuck waiting on a battery to finish charging, and the charger, although its a little on the bigger side, it is very nice, the charger and batteries have built in fail safes to help keep the batteries from over charging, or discharging, and will let the battery cool before charging if its overheating. The charger beeps when u put ur battery on charge, and will chime when the battery is fully charged. The canvas bag that comes with kit has plenty of room for the drill, impact driver, both batteries and the charger plus it has pockets for bits or other things u may want to store in it. Some people prefer hard plastic cases, and a hard case would provide more protection but in my experience, hard cases don't have room to store anything extra in them like the soft canvas bags, so I am perfectly happy with the soft bag. The only downside to this kit, and its a very small downside, is battery life with the 2Ah batteries. 3Ah batteries would be ideal, and obviously 4Ah or 5Ah batteries would be a lot nicer and give u much longer battery life, but it's really no big deal since you can purchase larger batteries for them, and any Makita battery with the star on it or the yellow clip are compatible with these 2 tools. I myself, do plan on purchasing bigger batteries eventually but for now these 2Ah batteries will do just fine. Overall this is a great kit, its more than enough if ur looking for something to use just around the house, and if ur a professional who works in the trades and needs something to use at the jobsite, like myself, these are great, they can handle all the wear and tear that come with working on the jobsite, no problem. Makita makes great tools and this kit reflects that. I plan on switching all my other tools over to Makitas cordless system, they have everything u could need and they all work off the same battery. All I have to say is "Great job Makita" this kit easily deserves 5 stars. If I have any issues with this kit in the future I will update this review but as of now I have zero complaints.

Great drill/driver
Did a lot of research and settled on this combo. I was having a hard time justifying the impact driver until I remembered I would be building a fence this summer. Truly a treat to use but this drill-alone is more than capable and from my research is one of the highest quality drills on the market. The drill has massive torque on the first setting, massive speed on the second setting for drilling. I haven't tried the hammer function and likely won't need it. Likely, if you're needing that function you'll be looking at true hammer drills.Driver just destroys and is lightweight.Brushless tech is noticeable by the battery life and lower noise. Also noticed how easy it is to modulate the chuck, say to line up a flat head bit. Charger is a beast, extremely fast recharge. It's a little noisy with the fan but that's a good price for 30 minute or better recharges.Would be great for a professional. While easily overkill for a DIYer, the quality gained is remarkable. A DIYer doesn't have a true need for the impact, so I wouldn't recommend the combo, but the drill is worth more than it's cost.

This is a great Drill/Impact Driver combo
This is a great Drill/Impact Driver combo! I didn't realize how much quieter and smoother the brushless motor is. I picked up the brushed equivalent of this set for my dad and playing with them side by side, there's a noticeable difference in smoothness, noise, and weight - brushless being slightly lighter, quieter, and smoother (no jarring kick).I purchased this set MOSTLY to upgrade from my old Makita 9.6v cordless drill that's about 12 years old. This new set is a beast by comparison, and honestly, probably overkill for my usual tasks, but it's priced cheaper than some other kits with less power.I've used the drill now for a few tasks, nothing heavy duty yet - mostly drilling into wood for a few nuts and bolts and i also use this to tighten fasteners for the plastic body on my motorcycles - the clutch set at "4" (which is what i used my old drill for as well). Clutch works great for delicate tasks and securing bits into is has a more solid "click" on the clutch vs my old aging Makita 9.6 Drill. The impact driver is also phenomenal. I've mostly used it on my car for removing and installing some simple fasteners, and surprisingly, has been used to take lugnuts off (torqued at 80ftlbs) with ease. I've drilled some 2-3 inch screws while fixing a fence and that worked out great too (i'm using makita's gold bits). no slippage whatsoever. So overall, i'm pretty stoked about this upgarde! I'm looking into getting more makita products to make use of the batteries. Love the fact i can power a weed wacker or angle grinder from the same set of batteries.

Great combo
Great combo overall, lots of power battery last long time, and recharge quickly (about 25 minutes from flat to full charge) 2 amp battery, but if you need longer run time you can always upgrade to a higher amp battery. we manufacture and install kitchens, bathroom vanities, closets and doors ,this combo in combination with spax concrete screws makes our installing work easier and faster. I recommend it, would definitely buy again. Greetings from México

Big and powerful
I bought this set after a lot of research, not easy. Makita makes so many different products and combos, it's hard to know what is what. The combo arrived in an old damaged box. The product also looked old. I was able to charge it and seemed to work well enough, but I returned it since I didn't intend on purchasing a used product.
