Introducing Forensic and Criminal Investigation

This book is a great introduction to the subject. Having tried to read various texts, including the official Murder Investigation Manual written by the police, this book explains the whole process from the crime scene and forensic evidence, to the investigation by the police (with a very helpful Running Homicide case that runs throughout the book) to the court in a very easy to understand way that, though there may be more in-depth books available, did what it said on the tin. I wanted to do some research for a crime novel I'm writing and this was/is perfect for a would-be writer to make sure they have all the facts they need to avoid any glaring errors. Put simply, if you're looking for a clear, understandable guide to the extremely complex process of a murder investigation in the UK, this is the best I've ever seen and a great help to fledgeling UK crime writers, hence the maximum marks. Update: I read this book 2 years ago and it is still the best book on this subject I've yet read. Amazing.

Jane is one my Lecturers. She is amazing at what she does, using her career and knowledge of past investigations, this book is very easy to read and has tons of information for such a small book. Has most of the information that you need for your first year essays and exams. A definite recommendation for anyone studying criminology and wanting to go into forensic or murder investigation careers.

My expectations to this book have been fulfilled in every way, it's a publication that although not originally directed at the general public is easily read and is most enlightening regarding the basic processes of crime investigation.
