It does what it says.
I'll start by mentioning that this is my 3rd Garmin watch, I also briefly owned a 47mm Epix Pro gen 2, I gave it up because of the size. I also had a 2019 Instinct Standard, which 2 weeks ago left me, it simply wouldn't turn on anymore (I was so disappointed, I was attached to that watch). So I told myself that I wasn't going to spend $500-600 on a watch for 4-5 years and I bought the FR 55 from Amazon, $160. Now about the watch: 2 weeks of battery with 2 30-minute runs and a one-hour bike ride, plus wearing it daily for notifications, I find it excellent, the GPS activates in max 10 seconds, the Instinct sometimes didn't find a signal even after 10 minutes (I mention that I live at an altitude of almost 3000 meters, almost always cloudy), compared to the Guru Maps Pro application that I use quite a lot, small differences, the Instinct had differences of 1 km in 6.7 runs. Don't get me wrong, the Instinct did its job well, but this "little thing" is excellent if you don't have high demands, 37 grams, you can't even feel it in your hand. It's not a Fenix, but it's a watch that does exactly what it says and does it well "without breaking the bank". I would have liked the screen to be a little bigger, the watch is 42mm (recommended for people with small wrists) but the screen is significantly smaller. I should mention that I actually bought it to use it for running, 2.3 times a week and for smartwatch notifications. Otherwise, a lot of reviews online.

Great fitness watch, lacks the fancy outdoorsmen features.
This is a great "fitness watch" I bought it as a replacement for my Garmin Instinct Tactical which broke, and I didn't really want to spend that kinda money again on something that only lasted three years. So far I'm a year into this watch and while it lacks some of the features I really liked about the Instinct, it's still good enough I can track my health stats, manage messages and bluetooth music. Would definitely recommend as a starter health watch, but long term you might want built in GPS, or some more advanced features. If you're just looking for gym stuff, this is perfect.

Great for running, working out, or tracking your steps at work!
Best investment I’ve made on Amazon. The look, size, feel, and screen clarity are all amazing. I ran the Dallas BMW marathon with this watch and the functionality of knowing my mile pace and what my heart rate is while running was super important to me. When it comes to functionality, this watch is great for working out, tracking your steps, or viewing your heart rate/stress levels (especially at work). There is hardly any lag time when it comes to update and syncing with my phone. I highly recommend this watch for anybody just starting out in running or working out.

Great running watch for those who want more accuracy and good metrics!
Great starter watch for those getting into running and want to track their running details more accurately. The ability to see more details than a normal smartwatch has been a game changer for my running. Extremely simple and intuitive to use. It’s helped me from someone who ran occasionally to running 2 half marathons and training for my first full marathon. The watch syncs with the Garmin App and many other running apps. Have recommended this item to many others, and they’ve all been happy with the purchase.

Would Buy Again / Very Few Negatives
Have had the watch for almost 2 months & I wish I've had it for about 2 years. I wasn't necessarily looking for all of the health stats that some watches (claim to) provide. I wanted something that'll show my phone notifications if my phone is in my pocket. Also wanted a few of the stats like heart rate & sleep tracking, and something that'd tell me it's time to take a walk. This does all of that & more! Changing the watch faces is a breeze & there are tons of free options on the COMPLETELY FREE Connect IQ app that Garmin promotes, so it's not a separate company / third party you have to go through. So far, I've gotten about 3 and a half weeks worth of battery life & have only had to charge the watch twice. My only negative works as a slight positive. I don't know the science behind it, but the screen is incredibly easy to read in direct sunlight. Unfortunately it's very difficult to read in the shade or just in a dimly lit room. Yes, you can hit the backlight button & it's perfectly visible. But the contrast is odd, so that's why I docked a star.Overall, I would buy this watch again instantly.

Love my Garmin!
This is a great watch! I enjoy running on the treadmill and outside, so I got this watch to help me track my stats. It can integrate with Strava via the Garmin app. The gps is accurate, and the watch can be calibrated to track your mileage on a treadmill as well. (No need for a footpod unless you’re training for the Olympics and need super exact accuracy). I originally bought it for running only but liked it so much I just wear it all the time. I’ve had it for several years and it’s still going strong. Good build quality and technical functionality. Highly recommended

Simple, Reliable, and Exactly What I Need
This is a great watch—very minimal, which I actually love. I don’t need a ton of features, and the Forerunner 55 gives me exactly what I’m looking for. It tracks my workouts accurately and tells the time, which is more than enough for me! It’s simple, reliable, and easy to use—perfect if you’re someone who just wants the essentials without the extra clutter.
