First Impressions 5 starts
I usually don't leave 5 star reviews unless I've had something for a while, but I gave this as a gift so I may not have much more information than I do now.I was a little worried about the issue mentioned by other reviewers about confusing instructions, but there really were not that many choices that had both solar and Atomic sync. And to be honest, it was a challenge to follow the instructions. The instructions for setting the time zone were split between two sections and you have to listen to what the watch says at each stage (which is difficult in a room full of loud family). After fiddling with it for a few minutes I think I can help others who have had issues with these instructions: - There are two kinds of references to each button because the watch always uses the hour hand position to refer to a button, probably so you don't have to reference the chart in the instructions. If you only pay attention to the S1,S2, etc naming convention it actually makes sense when it says "press the same button". Ignore where it is quoting the spoken words of the watch if it doesn't seem to make sense. - Wait for the watch to finish what it's saying after each button press. If you pay attention to this feedback it basically gives you instructions in case you've lost the printed instructions. After the first run through I realized the verbal instruction might work on their own if you don't have the printed instructions. Some of the verbal feedback is a little long winded, so if you keep mashing the button it will be impossible to know which stage it's at.It was fun to watch the clock change position on it's own after setting the time zone. The watch also makes use of the second hand to display the battery charge level which is a neat way to do it. The "charger" included really is just a round LED light. That made for some good jokes about "wireless charging".I am a little worried about a warning that was included in the manual: Do not let the battery reach 0vIf you let it lose it's charge entirely it will be bricked. The suggestion is to charge it once a week. If it can drain that quickly it might not survive a winter of being indoors. As much as this sucks, most rechargeable batteries share this flaw. So I can't really hold it against this device.

Better than I expected, but strap length cost a star
I bought this to use outdoors and it performs admirably. The only night it did not update was when there was a line of severe thunderstorms after midnight between Colorado and my home in northwest Georgia (which also prevented my other "atomic watch" from updating). I only use the "solar charger" (LED base) once a week, and I'm not sure that's even necessary with all the outdoor time this watch gets. The large face diameter is very useful. Having a sweep second hand accurate to the exact second is important in my volunteer work at a railway museum. I have been surprised by friends complimenting me on its styling. The hands are easy to see. The standard (Arabic) numerals make for quick reading. Even though there is no day/date display one of the buttons will announce it. You can also check if the watch is up to date by pressing the time button a second time after the time is "announced".Unfortunately I can only rate it 4 stars because in my opinion the wrist strap is too short for an average adult wrist. As it was supplied the strap is tight on my rather thin wrist - I could only use the second hole in the strap. My one suggestion to the manufacturer would be to supply a longer wrist strap, maybe 3/4" longer. It's a shame that such a minor detail cost this product its fifth star -- the watch would be exceptional if it weren't for the short strap. Others with even larger wrists might find this wonderful watch unusable.

Good story ends badly
Out of the box, this watch was fine and the solar charge lasted much longer than expected. Maybe that long solar charge was a false sense of security. When it did run out of charge (my fault - do not let that happen!) recxharging went OK, but getting the clock reset to crrect time and options was and is nightmarish. Being a talking watch, I figure it is for low vision or blind people, but two of the 4 buttons are recessed (operated by ball point pen), and two are normal. A little tough to do. The instructions do not seem t suffer a translation problem, but are still too sloppy. They have two names for each button (e.g "S1" is the button at 2 o'clock) when one naming convention will do AND sure enough, they get them confused. - sometimes the S3 button is the 8 oclock buttton , sometimes it is the 10 clock button~ Ridiculous. Too many times they say "press the same button" when you are not sure they have identified the right button in the first place. The labrynth of button pressing is far too elaborate (e.g. press this button five times the next button twice then the first button 3 times and on and on). BTW, my wife who has average vision are both former computer programmers - we can usually figure thngs out Perhaps the "atomic" aspect is adding layers of complication rather than convenience. I would prefer an easy manual set and be done with it (e.g tap S4 twice and then S1 until the hand moves to the correct hour, S2 until the hand moves to the correct minute). This is not a watch for normal people. There are other flaws in the instructions, but your get the idea. .

It's a Radio Controlled watch folks, not "Atomic". Does a good job.
Don't know why no one can design an alarm watch that's also smaller. Still, this is a nice watch. It is NOT an "atomic" watch for Pete's sake! It IS a radio controlled watch and does a time check and resets itself as needed every night. Listed as unisex but I need to punch holes in the band to fit my small wrist. I do like the fact that the alarm will chime for 30 seconds or can be turned off with a press of any button. Has a large sheet in instructions on how to set this watch up as well as a link to a YouTube video showing the same things.
