but I like to add to my library and decided to purchase ...
I've been weaving baskets for years, but I like to add to my library and decided to purchase this book on Kindle. While it is definitely written for the beginner, I've picked up new ways of doing a few things that I feel are better than the way I was taught. One of the things I really like about this book is her thorough photographs. I've never had a book that was so basic and so well laid out for the beginning weaver. While there are not many projects, I feel that the techniques taught certainly leave the beginner a solid foundation and a spring board for future projects. As far as the kindle edition is concerned, I found it easy to navigate. While I'd love an actual copy, the digital one works well on my tablet and that's fine with me.

Beginner Projects, Not a basket making howto
Billed as a beginners guide, but instead it would be better described as a collection of beginner level projects. The book is light on instruction and instead relies on the reader picking up skills as they complete a series of basket projects. While this is a valid approach, it teaches a very narrow set of skills mostly specific to making flat reed baskets. If you are looking for a guide to teach you most of the techniques of basket making...different weaving patterns, different shapes, different materials (including those you can collect from your own yard) and techniques like coiled grass or pine needles, and many others...I would recommend Earth Basketry ( Earth Basketry ) by Osma Tod. It's been in print since 1933 teaching the basics of basket making to generations of beginners.

Basic Basket Making Skills and Tools You Need to Get Started
This is a beautiful "how-to" book with step-by-step photographs to help you make lovely baskets. If you want to make reed baskets, this is the book. I have no doubt I could learn to make baskets by following the pictures and instructions presented. My only criticism is I am not particularly interested in making reed baskets. I have a large supply of grape vines, and I was hoping to find a use for them. While I am certain I could adapt the techniques presented in this book to my materials at hand, it would have been more helpful to me if there was even one example of a basket using grape vines or something similar. I was hoping the book would demonstrate techniques for working with a variety of materials. Rather it provides instuctions for a variety of baskets all using essentially the same materials.

To learn how to make baskets the correct way and enjoy it !
I was looking for something new to try and thought about basket weaving. I figured that I’d get a couple books and read about it before I jump in and start trying to make a basket. So far, it looks interesting. The book is interesting and informative about basket weaving.

One of the best basic books I have read
This book gives all the finer points and tips to weave pretty easy baskets. I haven’t had a chance to make any baskets for quite a while. This book was a great refresher.

This is a BOOK no tools
Part my fault, but wanted to help you avoid a similar mistake..this is a book only - not the tools (as the title may mislead) that you need for basket-making. Seems comprehensive, but I cant say for sure since I thought I was going to get a set of tools along with it. shame on me, for the price I should have known. Holding the book and making another order for materials.

Start Here!
38 years ago when I was 7 years old, I made a waste paper basket in junior school. I have tried several arts and crafts and have now found one I really enjoy, basket weaving!Having watched several youtube videos, I wanted a book with good pictures and excellent description in a step by step proccess ofmaking a decent basket. This book is it...So, START HERE if you want a simple easy to follow and understand book that will help the complete novice to get the basic tools ( although substitutes are also offered) and make four projects from flat cane (btw for information purposes we britts call reed 'rattan' so if you wonder what is meant by reed... its rattan) and centre can (round cane comes in number format such as no1, no 2, and so on and is often a measurement of thickness for example no2 cane is 2mm, no 3 is 3mm but some companies defy this so watch for that. Always check their measurement to find the right millimeter). This book, even though it has a fixed cover, is ring bound inside so you can have the book either propped up as I do or laying down to follow it without it keep closing on you (not good when your working with wet hands although the pages are glossy). All in all I give this a full 5 star for its layout and explanations step by step.A really smashing book. I dont think you will be dissapointed at all.
