Unique setting makes the book again!
Another thrilling adventure in Eerie-on-See that brings back the lovable characters and unique, atmospheric setting of this small sea town. Another monster is on the loose and its bringing monster sized storms to the seaside town. Love how the mystery unfolds yet again, and Herbie and Violet are great characters that, of course, save the day. Love the feel of these books, and can't wait for the next monster to terrorize the village

Strong follow-up to Malamander
This picks up right where you want to be, back in Eerie-on-Sea with the continuing adventures of Herbie Lemon and all the odd assortment of characters in his day-to-day existence. Wonderfully creepy and ominous, and yet somehow homey, as if that makes any sense. What a wonderful series!

Recommended for those who enjoyed the first book in the series
This is the second book in the Eerie-on-Sea series, and it follows the same structure as the first book. I must admit the first book seemed more interesting and fun to me; however, I think this is a good second part. The illustrations by Tom Booth play a key role in this story, since it allows the reader to visualize the aquatic monsters described as the author conceived them.I would have preferred if the main antagonist had been constructed in such a way that it did not resemble one of the antagonists from the previous book; but I must emphasize that the main character has more determination and better decision-making capacity in this second book, which is very positive. It was interesting to notice that this book, unlike the previous, makes some references to contemporary aspects of life, which sets the story in the current time.Regarding the protagonists, I would have liked more if their main goal, as it was shown in the first book, remained the same in this story; but it is certainly an interesting novel, full of adventure and emotions. This story can get the reader’s attention from the start, although towards the middle of the book the story feels a bit slow; however, in the end the reader will probably feel caught by the narrative again.I recommend this book for readers ages 10 and up who enjoyed the first book in this series.“A book is like a mirror. We always see ourselves inside."-Thomas Taylor, Gargantis

Amazing sequel. I can't wait for more now.
Lost-and-Founder Herbert Lemon and his friend Violet are back in another adventure set within the seaside town of Eerie-on-Sea. This time a massive storm is shaking the town violently and there seems to be no end to it. If it continues it could cause the whole town to crumble into the sea.The fishermen have a tale of a creature, Gargantis, awakening and that is the cause of the storm, but could their tale be true and what’s with the fish-shaped bottle that has washed up on the shore during an electrical storm that everyone in the town is trying to lay claims to?Herbie and Violet are on a quest to discover the truth and save their adopted home before it is too late.Gargantis is the second book in the Eerie-on-Sea series for middle-graders, although it is that exciting that I can see plenty of YA readers enjoying it too. The first book, Malamander, introduced us to this unlikely pair, both found by locals when they were babies and given homes within the town. Herbie is still working at the local hotel, Grand Nautilus, as the Lost-and-Founder, whilst Violet is working at the bookshop. The book is continuous action the whole way through and the plot explosive has you hanging on every page and not wanting to put the book down. There is even a mysterious hooded man who hides his face and wants what Herbie has and resembles an Octopus when he’s in the water.I love the characters and being back in the town, which is certainly a one-off. I was intrigued the whole way through to see if Gargantis was real and was it coming for Eerie. I can see this series being a big hit and I’m not surprised. Both books have been amazing and I hope that there will be more visits to Eerie-on-Sea in the future. I’m sure more adventures are waiting to be had!

I loved this book so much!
Gargantis is the second book in the Malamander series and I loved it as much as Malamander. Great for anyone looking for a middle grade with exciting mysteries, seaside town, legendary creatures, lost things and amazingly quirky characters.Herbert Lemon the Lost and Founder of the Great Nautilus Hotel is a cinnamon roll and I love him with all my heart.Herbert takes his job very seriously in finding the rightful ownership to lost things and finds himself getting into danger with his best friend Violet Parmer who is a brave, smart and bold girl. The writing was amazing, making sure we can visualise everything while making the characters and setting so unique.Thank you Netgalley for approving me a copy.
