Calms him down in seconds flat!
My poor 6 month old son got this for Christmas. He had so many gifts that we gave it to him early. I have fond memories of my original glow worm, so at first I was dissapointed in the new style. But once I showed it to my son I knew that it was perfect! He has been having a hard time teething the past week or so, but this grabs his attention even in the worst crying fit. He loves to look at the glowing face, hold his hands, and chew on the knots in the hoodie. The music is the perfect volume level. He can hear it clearly when it's next to him, even in a semi-noisy room, yet it's quiet enough to not be annoying or startle him if he's not expecting it. The songs are soothing and I love the options. There is a switch on the battery pack (easy to get to, just undo the velcro on his back and it's right there). There is one setting for light only, one for short songs, and one for longer songs. On the short song setting the light goes out about halfway through, and on the longer setting the light fades away after the music is done.Overall I love this toy, and so does my baby!

great toy
My son got this toy as a gift on his 1st birthday. He is now 2 1/2 years old and uses it more now than ever. He likes to push on the light when he goes to bed (I dont let his use the music part at night) and uses it as a nightlight. He plays with it during the day w/ music. The music doesn;t stay on a long time (a feature that I like). It's not meant to lull your baby to sleep. My son falls asleep on his own. I liked it so much that I bought a pink one for my 5 month old and also one for their cousin.

It's ok
This is a cute Gloworm but the music only plays for about 30 seconds before you have to push the belly again. The music is quite loud and there isn't a way to turn the volume down. But for 6 dollars my 3 month old likes it :)

Cheap Knock-off - Nasty, scratchy fabric
Any garage sale going has a softer, sweeter glow worm on the table. The cozy, cuddly fabric of days gone by has been replaced by an itchy something that barely resembles fabric. I can't stand touching it, and I would not want it near my child's skin. Shame on you taking something a baby could cuddle and ruining it. If you've never seen an older version glow worm, or are used to the way cheap stuff is made these days, you might not notice. One positive: My baby does enjoy the music. My older children will play it for him in the car, and he quiets right down, but the glow light goes off too soon, and the music does not go long enough. Long car rides are our desperation times, and that is the only time it is in circulation. I would prefer to spend more money on a quality item than get this cheap. I don't purchase garage sale stuffed animals because I can't wash them, otherwise I would go that route.

Glowie is great
This is the greatest toy. My daughter is 4 and still plays with Glowie every night. We have fun waking her up every morning with Glowie dancing to his songs. I think all kids should have this toy. My oldest, who is now 23, had this when it first came out. It's changed faces over the years, but he's always gonna be a toy your kids will cherish. He serves as their nightlight and bedtime companion, soothing them to sleep with his lullabyes. Glowie is a good guy!

Great toy, not for bedtime though
Been in use on and off since 2011. Used primarily as a toy, not at bedtime since it's quite stimulating due to its volume and brightness. Not an ideal cuddle toy -- fabric is scratchy like felt, face is hard plastic, plastic music box in "abdomen" can be felt when squeezed. Nice music selection: Rock-a-bye Baby, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Hush Little Baby, Frere Jacques, Pachelbel's Canon in D. In Play mode, one press = 1 song (<60 secs). Modes: Light, Demo, Play. Gloworm. Holding up pretty well over the years...did need to get slightly stitched up and re-stuffed due to our curious/destructive toddler. Most annoying thing about toy is ease of undoing velcro closure on back and partially pulling out music box by our child. The box is tied internally, so doesn't easily come out completely. The music box is now permanently sticking out of back despite our repeated attempts to put it back. Not really a safety issue though since the music box is large and tied to the inside, and its battery compartment is screwed shut. Our 2011 version looks similar to the product photo, but with cut-out crescent moon and star on chest. Overall, Gloworm recommended, but not as a sleep aid.

The new version is terrible
My oldest son LOVED his gloworm (the older version) and still sleeps with it today. So of course he wanted to get one for his new baby brother as well. The one we got was the newer version compared to my sons, but I assumed they would be of the same quality. I was wrong. It was only about 4 months before it stopped working, and I have tried 3 sets of brand new batteries. Nothing. So when this price got reduced on Amazon, I ordered my youngest son another one for Christmas (he can't sleep without it and has been borrowing my oldest sons - which STILL works after 5 years!!). This new one lasted one week and now will not work, and I have tried several sets of batteries on this one too. My kids love the gloworm and the idea of it, but I am very disappointed in how the quality and durability of these have changed over the years!

I love Gloworm!
This says "boy" but my daughter has this one and loves it. Most of the time if you buy a pink item for a girl, you end up paying more. My daughter got this as a gift when she was a baby and she still loves it at 4 1/2. She uses it more as a stuffed animal now but she does take it to bed and if she wakes up in the middle of the night, she plays Gloworm's music to soothe herself back to sleep. She's been doing this since she was old enough to press the button herself and it comes in handy. We've used it for long car rides and trips to Grandma's so that she has a familiar musical toy wherever she goes (when she was still in a crib, the mobile wasn't as portable so we took Gloworm.) Also, the music is not that annoying electronic, high-pitched music that most baby and toddler toys have. This plays nice piano-like music, with familiar lullabies. I highly recommend this product for all babies.
