Russian Short Stories for Beginners Volume 2: 20 Captivating Short Stories to Learn Russian & Grow Your Vocabulary the Fun Way! (Easy Russian Stories)

It's a tool...It's a book...It's a Program.
I really like this book: Russian Short Stories TWO for Beginner's. I also have Volume 1 similar title different stories. There is so much here. I think it will provide a year's worth of study, and learning vocabulary. The stories use short sentences and they have highlighted in dark bold, the words and phrases, that have a vocabulary explanation. The vocabulary words are at the end of each chapter for easy look up, and in the order that they appear in the story. I am using these books as a supplement to the traditional classroom Russian where we get lectures, and explanations and learn spelling and grammar and the 6 cases. I think we need those grammar lessons, but with that grammar background these books help with putting grammar and vocabulary together for easier consolidation of the two. Also, I joined Audible.com because these two volumes are available. The clarity is super, the pronunciation is beautifully clear, and the accents (sometimes called stress points) is perfect. I am not a beginner, but not advanced either. But I would like to see in the book, the accent marks to show which syllable is accented or stressed. It would be helpful. For example, if you saw the word: a-di-DAS, emphasis on DAS. You might not recognize the word. But if you saw it as: a-DI-das...you would immediately recognize the sports clothes make Adidas.

Another great learning resource from Lingo Mastery
I've purchased all of the Lingo Mastery Russian books for their quality, approach, and consistency in staying focused on the target audience. The stories are short and challenging, yet provide good translations and vocabulary to help me understand words and phrases I don't recognize.I encourage readers to follow the authors' suggestions on how to read the material. Read it, absorb as much as you can, but don't get caught up in checking the translations and vocabulary as you go through the stories. I have difficulty with this guidance, LOL, as I want to understand everything at that moment, but by reading as much as you can without the peripheral distractions, you'll comprehend more each time you pick up the book. Trust me it works.

Delightful collection
This book has a variety of interesting, enjoyable and easy to understand Russian short stories about various subjects accompanied by extremely useful vocabulary listings and reading comprehension exercises at the end of each story which enable you to build understanding of what the stories are about as well as build vocabulary. This book works for both beginners and those who have already studied Russian and wish to engage in language maintenance.

No accent marks in the printed book. It means you must buy the audible for $21 plus for accents.
Because I studied Russian in college decades ago, I found vol. 2 very accessible. The downside is not seeing any accent marks. Accent marks even just on vocabulary pages would be helpful. One of my learning techniques is to read the English and translate to Russian. To learn proper accents one must spend another $21 plus to join Audible. I suggest you offer an alternative volume with CD audio of the stories and charge a little more for the set.

Another hit for me
I really enjoyed the first volume of this book. It helped me a lot on my journey to learning Russian and this second volume is just as resourceful. Stories are short and interesting, not overwhelming. Challenging enough without being frustrating. I will enjoy getting the audiobook when it's available as well so I can hear the words that are unfamiliar to me.

Learning through stories
I like this series of books. Stories are a fun way of learning vocabulary, and it seems easier for me to retain the words I've learned that way. This book follows the same format as the Volume 1. There is a Russian story (often about everyday matters, but sometimes about Russian history or culture) followed by an English summary, a vocabulary list, and questions to test your comprehension.Though this book is listed as for beginners, it is Volume 2 for a reason. Most of the stories in this one are longer than Volume 1, and the vocabulary and phrases used are more advanced. This is a helpful series.

Excellent!
This is a great book for beginners; it includes interesting stories basic enough to be understood but challenging enough to give you good practice. They are short enough to be useful if you don’t have a lot of time. The audiobook is an excellent supplement to the Kindle book that helps you really strengthen your reading and listening comprehension skills, especially if you are an auditory learner.

“Fun” stories that include affairs and abortion?
Wow! Right out of the gate there’s a story about cheating on each other. Then two more about cheating with mentioning getting an abortion, as well. Why is this necessary and “fun” to help learn Russian?Although it may be fairly decent in teaching Russian, I don’t like that there are no accents for the words (which is imperative in Russian; important to pronounce things correctly from the very beginning to avoid having to change habits later), I also find it frustrating to have to keep scrolling to the vocabulary to see what words mean. Maybe paragraph by paragraph to have the English translation would be better.

It is not meant for kids
I was hoping to get stories more appropriately for children with illustration and more simple language. However, this book is designed for adults who are more advanced in their Russian language skills.

Of great help as a supplement to a duolingo course
I'm finding this just the right level of challenging and rewarding after about 10 months of doind duolingo. Highly recommended.

A very interesting and really helpful
To learn a language we need to understand more words, increase the vocabulary and in my humble opinion it is possible only through reading a lot. Listening to stories and reading stories will help a lot and this book does the same. Thanks once again to Lingo Mastery.

Easy to pick up for quick lessons.
Before I go in to detail I should mention that I am a fan of the series of books. I use several apps for learning the Russian language, but a book is so useful. I scribble in the front and back cover. I use high lighter pens to make it easy to find section and I have a scrap of white card as a bookmark that is my cheat sheet. The stories are short enough to read at work in my dinner break or whilst stuck in traffic. Far easiest and safer than picking up the phone. The words used are common enough for every day use and reading does trigger different memory cells. My top tips would be, brag about your learning. Once people know you have started you will find it harder to quit. A little everyday is better than just at the weekend. Put the books on your wish list. Family are always looking for present ideas. Enjoy your learning.
