The salon where I get my curly hair cut uses Davines products and while I have always loved how my hair smells and is styled there, I never wanted to shell out for a higher-end product at home. I went through several drugstore gels: Garnier curl sculpting cream weighed my hair down, Curls botanical gel didn't have nearly enough hold, etc. I finally bought the Davines cream gel (sold for less than retail on Amazon, at least) and oh my goodness, what a difference. - I don't have to use nearly as much as I did with other gels--I scrunch mousse and gel into my hair when still sopping wet, so I use more gel at a time than some (since it gets diluted and some drips out during scrunching), but I only need about a quarter-size dollop of Davines for my thick, shoulder-length curls. - It holds super well. It really helps my curls keep their shape and not get fuzzy, as my hair is prone to do. - For those saying it's too sticky and crunchy: It really helps to have your hair very wet when you apply it, because I could see how the stickiness might be difficult to work with otherwise. As for crunchiness, once it's dry, I just scrunch it again and this helps to take away the stiffness, but magically the style still holds. - It also helps my hair dry much faster (air dry or diffuser)! Since I only wash my hair every 2-3 days, one bottle actually lasts me quite a long time, so it's completely worth it. In between washes, I use Davines This Is a Sea Salt Spray to refresh and rescrunch. (You could probably use any salt spray or maybe leave-in conditioner, possibly even water--but the Davines spray smells AMAZING.)

I totally recommend this product (at least for trying). The gel (i'dnt call it a cream) has a nice smell and it holds my medium length type 2a hair very good.

This hold cream is stellar for quick drying (and I am ALWAYS in a hurry), but most important, I don't need to use it every day! It is super value for money since I only need to use about once a week. Bonus: I love the scent!

This is probably the best gel you can buy today. It holds extremely well, gives hair that "memory" type effect where you can shape and reshape it for almost all day while still maintaining that hold and flexibility. Will not crust or flake, as to be expected with any higher end product. USE IN SMALL AMOUNTS. Start with just a pea size. This stuff is so strong that a big squirt of it will ruin your hairstyle for the night.

Strong hold, doesn't have an overwhelming chemical smell. Dries really fast. It does flake after a while but overall is a good product

I’ve been using this gel for years. It works great. I like that it does not leave wet and sticky look but rather make my naturally hard to manage hair look neat and clean.

All Davines hair products are *BY FAR* the best products that I have ever used and I've tried many other hair products. I have a lot of coarse straight hair, but it's unruly and uncontrollable if I try to go against the natural direction of my hair. This is the only gel that I've used that will actually hold my hair in any direction I want without it falling out of place all day. It's a miracle. I also highly recommend Davines More Inside Strong Dry Wax if you want extreme strong hold but make it look like your hair doesn't have any product in it (matte look).

Don’t let the stickiness scare you. I used 2-3 pea-sized amounts on my thick, curly hair when wet, diffused, then scrunched with a drop of oil. My curls were defined, soft, and held their shape.
