These are just what I needed. I like the covers, which keep the soil damp with humidity so I don't have to water after initially watering the soil and planting the seeds. It came with sponges in a square the detach from each other. They are about 1/4" x 1/4" square, and 1" long. Someone asked a question about them. I put two in each bottom, one in the middle of each short side, and then set in the plant pots on top. The pots still sat snug on the outside of the bottom. Maybe they're to help soak up excess water or just cushion the 6-pot planter? Anyway, I used them that way. See photos.

Nice starter kit but some plants grow really fast and will hit the top plastic seal within two days. Will be great if the top cover was a bit larger for added room of the plants.

I bought these as my first seed starting cells. Not very pleased with these cell trays/sets.They are cheap, not that sturdy compared to 100's of other comparable products on the market/amazon.The pictures advertised make the product look much bigger than they are actual. Seeds will eventually need to move out- would go with a 3" cell and look for other options. All my seeds in these trays are much weaker than other cells and plastic tray options.

I started flower seeds in four of these trays & will try vegetable seeds next. I was pleasantly surprised that the seeds sprouted in a few days.I didn’t 5-star sturdiness as the lids felt a little flimsy, but they actually work great.
