Perfect for '98 TJ, incredibly easy install
Perfect fit for my '98 TJ and better than new. These struts are solid and actually if it came down to it only one strut is enough to support the glass, but they come in a set of two anyway. Easy on and off one person install. They say use two people but I'm tall enough to hold the glass up with my head while I remove and replace the old sagging struts one at a time. I couldn't believe how easy it was .. instructions included in enough English to understand. You use a flat blade screwdriver to lever out a retaining band on each end of the strut .. doesn't need to be removed, just pull it out a little and the socket at the end of the strut can be popped off the ball that remains attached to the Jeep. Repeat for the other end of the strut, then just pop the new strut socket back over the ball on each end. Don't need to loosen the band to pop it on, just push. Snaps in place. Repeat as needed for the second strut. Done. That's it. If I had known it was this easy I would have replaced them years ago when they first started to sag.

Good quality
Got these for my ‘03 Rubicon hard top. Less expensive than the local part stores. Work great! Definitely recommend these.

Jeep TJ hardtop rear glass
These were awesome. Easy to install- they just press on with you hands, press & twist slightly.I do not know if my old ones were stock, but the old ones required me to pull the plastic cap on the top with a screw driver. The cap held in the old shocks and then they just pulled off. These new shocks are super strong with even just one side on. Now I understand how people can drive around with the rear glass up. Mine would stay up even when I bought my jeep but the wind or bumps would push down the glass but I was scared that the glass would break if it slammed into the spare wheel. These are so strong that I am gentle pushing the glass down with 2 hands vs the old 1 hand swipe before.

Overall a great value, but be careful with the retaining clips...
I bought these to replace OEM lift struts on a 2003 Jeep Wrangler Sport hardtop (TJ style). These struts fit well and perform perfectly; no issues to speak of there. The only problem I had was with trying to get the retaining clips back in place once they were installed. The OEM style has a plastic plug that snaps in place, and you use a screwdriver to pop them out...very simple. These have a spring steel band that you pull out part way, snap in place, and then push the retainer clip back. In two cases (opposite ends of the two struts), the clips were difficult to get pushed back into place; one popped out of the housing completely as I tried to get it into place. This isn't a knock against the struts; it's just a little awkward compared to the other styles. Once clipped in, they work very well; no more sag/drop to the back window. Great product, just be careful during install, and be sure to prop the glass up in the beginning in case you need both hands to get the clips in place.

Makes all other gas window struts seem sad and pathetic.
When the glass wouldn't stay up, I bought these. So much winning, making other, inferior gas struts seem like a waste of money.
