A comfortable boot that won't last
If you are reading this, you have too much time on your hands or a ruthlessly detailed researcher. There are now hundreds of reviews praising the boots. My original guarded review gave it three stars. I bought them Nov.5th. It's now March 18th and the soles are worn out. 4 months. I've had sneakers last longer than that. They are comfortable. If you don't wear them everyday or only for short periods of time, they are a great pair of boots. They are not waterproof. Water resistant, maybe, for a short period of time. I (did)wear them everyday for 8 hours on hard pavement and bricks. I expected them to last 6 months or more. I was trying to save money. I didn't want to spend $125 - $175 for good quality. I was wrong. If you are going to buy them for the occasional snow storm or icy walk, they will be great & comfortable. They will probably be good for hiking as well.

These boots are okay
These boots are okay for rain and snow, but may not be completely waterproof, other timberland boots might do a better job in heavy rain and snow.

Nice lightweight boot.
I have only been wearing these for three days and I can tell you that these boots needed a lot less breaking in than other more exp ensive boots I've owned. I work at a large facility located on 86 acres and I do a lot of walking indoors and outside. I normally wear a size 12D with sneakers like Nike, Reebok and New Balance. Past experience with Timberlands taught me that they tend to run a little large for the advertised size, so I ordered size 11.5D and the fit is pretty good, although there is still a little "wiggle room" inside, so perhaps an 11D would have been absolutely perfect. I'm keeping the 11.5's because I can simply switch to thicker socks; which would make the fit optimal. These boots are only lightly insulated, so they may not be the best choice IF you plan on wearing them for hours outside in single digit temperatures, but they are fine for an hour or two of snow shoveling and slush runs right off them and doesn't soak in, so at least your feet stay dry. The EVA inner soles help provide decent comfort, but I'd like to see it offer just a bit more cushioning...only because I spend so much time on my feet. I suppose I could just pick up an inexpensive pair of foam liners at a department store to add another layer, and because these were a tiny bit large for me, I have the room to do just that. This isn't saying the boots aren't comfortable..They are! I'm just looking to spoil my feet a little bit more. Overall, I'd give these boots a solid 4 star rating and a good buy. No regrets. Just remember to drop down 1/2 to a full size when you select yours.

Looking forward to many years of great service
I had a pair of Rockport Alpine Woods boots for close to 10 years. This winter, it was obvious they were about to bail on me. The freeze/thaw cycles, the salt and snow, all combined to shrink them to the point where it took forever to get them on and they were very tight once I got them on. The leather at the ankle collar had cracked and ripped, and they didn't slip right off, either. After the early February snowfalls, I couldn't take them any more and ordered a pair of Timberland White Ledge boots. I got them a half-size too big to leave plenty of room for thick socks. They arrived as scheduled (2 days via Prime) and they feel GREAT. Similar sole tread to the Alpine Woods, like an off-road truck tire, but comfortable and pliable. And even with the extra half-size, my foot feels roomy but isn't sliding around. These have been great in the snow... sure footing, feet stay warm and dry. The knitted ankle collar should last far longer, and is similar to the wrist cuffs on high-end gloves - and they allow for very easy slip-on and slip-off. This is all I ask of a boot like this, and so far so good. I expect service just as long from these as the old Rockports, and they're off to a great start.

Great fit, but problems with different sized boots. Frustrated.
While these boots fit my boyfriend well, and he liked the style, the first day he wore them a part of the stringing area snapped off. I returned them, and re-ordered, and the second pair came, but the shoes, although labeled 11.5, were different sizes. The company agreed to reimburse me for the boots, and said I didn't have to send them back - I just put them in the garbage because obviously could not be worn. I think Timberland is a great company, if I'm disappointed by a product twice I can't give it high marks. Also, I am not sure about the quality of these boots. Are they really Timberland? So many questions. But the company was responsive and nice, so I want to say that here. Could just be a snafoo that rarely happens, I don't know. The product generally is reviewed well so I was surprised. Here is a pic showing that one of the boots labeled 11.5 is actually smaller than the other.

Socks are wet everytime I wear these boots.
I like the fit and look. The waterproof is less than stellar. It has been below or barely above 0 here and my socks are always wet and feet are cold. I expect so much more from a Timberland product.

Only water proof on a dry day!
Bought them for the winter and they didn't hold off the cold moisture at my toes...That defeated the whole purpose of buying these supposedly waterproof boots. Plus when the moisture gets down into the sole of the boots they squeak when you walk until the moisture dry out of em. However, these boots get three stars for style at least!
