Does this split tablets into thirds? If so, are they pie cuts (like a peace sign) or cuts down the long side of pill so you have thin slices?

Are you trying to split a round flat pill or a lozenge-type pill? If it's lozenge-type it works fine, unless you need to be really precise. (After all, every three doses you are getting the correct total amount.) I need to split my lozenges at the 2/3 mark, stretching two tablets into three doses. I keep a little scale handy to check the weights now and then, but mostly I just eyeball around where the 2/3 mark would be and easily make the cut there. If I'm a little over or under I don't care, since it all evens out after three doses.

Can it cut an oblong pill into 1/4's?

Yes the Equadose can cut an oblong pill into 1/4's. To do so, first you would stand your pill up on it's end, center it between the blades and cut it lengthwise. Then you could lay each cut side down and cut it into quarters. When you put the pill on it's end it will likely go above the blades some. You can wipe the Equadose pill splitter with just some warm water and a cloth. Make sure it dries thoroughly before using it.

Will this halve relatively soft triangular pills (sumatriptan-Sun Labs , India)

Probably. I have triangular sumatriptan pills from Orchid Healthcare, India and it cuts them well. These pills don't cut well with other splitters I've tried.
