An absolute must have
This thing is really quite excellent. I have been playing the viola for about ten years and have competed at a state level. This is the best bow I have ever owned. As you can see in the video, the bow is beautiful, the inlays are cleanly laid and look immaculate, the ebony frog is smooth and consistent, the edges are all perfect and symmetrical. The wrap comes with tape over it, which may be removed if you wish (on most cheaper bows the wrap will fall apart, however, I removed mine and applied a good amount of pressure, intentionally trying to unravel it with NO SUCCESS, it didn’t budge) and the wrap underneath is clean, consistent and attractive. The hair takes rosin quite well, I had it playing in a matter of about 2 minutes. The horse hair is well combed and securely attached, a few hairs were lost from menu packaging it but aside from that, even with aggressive playing I have lost no additional hairs. The arch is perfect, the balance is also perfect. It’s extremely lightweight but produced a rich, vibrant sound. Furthermore, it’s carbon fiber so it will not be affected by heat or humidity and it is actually much stronger than most wood bows, making it very durable. This is the highest quality bow I have owned, yet it is probably the cheapest. I absolutely love it.

Great value in entry or intermediate level bow!!
Bows are rather a confusing purchase! They range from pure junk. . . . .to thousands of dollars!!I grew up playing on a decent quality viola, with a decent wooden bow. Over the past years of playing, and using various bows, I've found the better quality carbon fiber type to my liking, and know that it will last forever, keep its shape, and is quite a good choice for an entry, or intermediate level viola bow!!Slightly light weight, but has good quality horse hair, and produces a strong, even sound across the strings.

Decent student bow
For the money this is a decent student or beginner bow. I started out many years ago playing classical viola, then recently took up the fiddle. I got out my old viola just for fun, and needed a bow -- this is basically perfect.

Great for intermediate players
Got this for a high school orchestra student after their old bow stopped tightening. We had previously replaced the hair on the bow at a local repair shop. The new bow arrived fast, and works well. Its a good weight, and I've heard no complaints from the teenager. So it might be amazing.

NOT good for skilled player....
Like it initially, but after playing it for a couple more days, I found this bow cannot make enough rich sound for me. Frankly, this bow is better than my current bow, which is really surprised me by its inexpensive price. I decided to return it, because I need something better than this.Cheap but good quality, I definitely recommend this bow to newbie and intermediate level player.Based on the price and quality, I do want to give a 5!Updates: I ordered D Z Strad #812, and I love it. D Z Strad #506 is a good bow based on the price, but it occasionally makes squeak sound. I returned #506, and kept #812, because I need a better bow.
