I also too had the problem trying to upgrade to Windows 8.1. The only way to solve this issues is to only update the Windows 8.1 update ONLY, with no other software/updates along with it. After it finish installing Window 8.1 then you can update the rest of the software/updates.This laptop is great for multitasking and can media work very well. I love have the speak is on top on then on bottom like most laptops.The only tiny con about this laptop is that there's no signal light on the Caps Lock key on the keyboard to tell you if your Cap Lock on.

So this laptop comes with Windows 8, which I'd heard is a complete nightmare. I was honestly expecting a bit of frustration when I started using the computer, based on this fact. Trust me, a few minor tweaks (including upgrading to Windows 8.1) and I've had nothing but smooth sailing. The computer is extremely fast, extremely useful. It is very light (weight), and the battery lasts enough for you to complete any task you might need (4+ hours). Great picture quality. In few words...great performance all around. So far, found no reason to complain.
