PEMP Linux 12.3" Ultra-Thin Screen E70 E71 CIC Wired and Wireless CarPlay Retrofit Android Auto, 1920 x 720 Display Mirror Link Car Radio Bluetooth Video Player Screen for BMW X5 X6 (2010-2012)

I don’t often write reviews, but this head unit truly deserves one. Recently, I purchased the PEMP (9625) Ultra-Thin 12.3" Linux Screen, specifically designed for BMW X5 E70/E71 CIC models, and installed it in my 2013 BMW X5 E70. I’m happy to report that everything is functioning flawlessly, and I’m thoroughly impressed with this upgrade. The system seamlessly integrates with the OEM Bluetooth and microphone, and the iDrive system works perfectly with the new head unit. Apple CarPlay also operates smoothly without any issues. The customer service was exceptional. The support team was very helpful, guiding me through customizing the startup logo to my preference. Installation was straightforward and took me about an hour. The system is incredibly responsive, with a fast interface, excellent connectivity, touchscreen , display quality, brightness, and outstanding sound quality. If you're considering this upgrade, I highly recommend it, you won’t regret the investment!

Update: I got a new phone, and did a factory rest as suggested by the vendor and the unit is still randomly restarting. It is definitely the unit that has issues. Previouse: Things started off great, easy install sound and visual was amazing. However after about 2 months it is starting to randomly restart itself. Sometimes a couple of times on the same drive.

Extremely happy with this unit. I installed an android unit in an e84 x1 and have found this unit to be a much better set up. And significantly cheaper. I wasn’t interested in all the extra features. I really just wanted Apple CarPlay, an integration of the factory backup camera steering wheel controls and microphone and it all works great. FYI if you have a late production E 70 this unit will work with Bluetooth audio without running on auxiliary cable

The best aftermarket auto touchscreen.

This is solely Android! It will not play sound with an iPhone. The listing clearly says it is compatible and it is NOT… Tried to return it and was told it was past the 30 day window…. I barely had time to have it installed and taken to professionals to try and figure out why it wouldn’t play sound.I’m disappointed, irritated and out $600. Save your money! This company sux!!!

The screen design in nice and looks good on the car. But the hardware is not good at all. I have logic 7 sound system which sounds amazing but this unit makes it sound very bad. Sound processing is not good. I have android phone so Android auto screen resolution is very bad and off. The icons are big and pixilated. When im in android auto the system lags and isnt fast. I was happy i found a good designed screen but they forgot how important is hardware. I have installed android system before and never had any issues.

Linux version is awesome. Go with this Linux screen unless you are hell-bent on using YouTube and other Android apps directly off the head unit. Carplay/Android auto gives you everything, no need to run any apps directly on headunit. I Had to sort out some minor kinks with the system. Support via email is excellent. They provided an update to sort out a software bug which was an annoyance at best. Pros: Installation was easy. All plug and play no re-wiring or additional harnesses needed. Everything required comes in the package. Super fast boot to main screen (under 10 seconds) and 5 seconds after that to auto-connect CarPlay or Android Auto wirelessly. All original functions of my 2012 BMW X5 work flawlessly, including CD, HD Radio, Phone, Bluetooth audio. Reverse Camera and parking sensors display work flawlessly Carplay and Android Auto audio work with BMW Bluetooth. You can use AUX if you don't have BMW Bluetooth. No Phone call audio quality issues. Steering wheel buttons work without any setup or configuration with Linux screen. Cons: Information on sorting out kinks is not included in the package. You have to email the issue details. QR code in the package for installation video takes you to a youtube video that is banned in US. I searched Youtube and found PEMP installation video for E70 X5.

Garbage! Not going to work with 10pin connector but they advertise this will not work with 4pin and only good with 10pin but its the otherwise around! Waste of time. Support no help
