Blue Torrent Booster Pump, 1 HP

It's actually more quiet than my name brand pump. Works as it should. Have had it a couple of months and so far so good. It seems to be a deal for the money.

My polaris booster pump died. This alternative replacement was about half the price. The fittings are a bit different and my flex hosing had gotten too rigid to reuse - so another $60 in parts before this was working. However, it is working great and was still over $150 cheaper than the name brand.

Why can’t you use any standard fittings on this pump? The pump ships with half a fitting so might work if you already have it plumbed for the flexible tubing. You still need the compression nut from the existing fittings to tighten to their included fittings. What type of thread is being used to connect to the pump? I tried every one at the hardware store and nothing matches. Since my current pump is connected with standard threaded PVC which is used on the Polaris pump, I have no way to attach this to my system. Why would you build a pump with non-standard fittings? The pump looks nice but is likely to be returned because I have no way I can use it.

Easy install of replacement for original 14 year old Polaris pump. Runs very quite.Caution: The fittings seal perfectly but if tighten down to much they will bottom out and snap right off and then you are screwed. Very hard to get the fitting threads out of the female threads. Plus now you are one fitting short. Pump came already wired for 220.

Very affordable booster pump! The only issue is mine cracked with the ice and I cannot find the replacement volute for it.

I used this to replace my Hayward booster pump that had a smoked motor. Easy install and was shipped for 220v. This unit was so quiet I had to put my hand on it to make sure it was on. Self primed within seconds and my Polaris is back to doing it’s job. 🤘🏼

First of all, the shipping box that pump came in was badly damaged. There were large holes in both sides. In fact, Amazon noted that the shipment was late because the shipping label was damaged.The hose fittings did not come with the mating nut and the nut that I had did not mate properly. I ended up using my own hose clamps.The power end of the Blue Torrent pump is not sealed from the rain like the Polaris is. This could be a cause of early failure. I sealed the end of the pump with duct tape.The design of the pump end of the Blue Torrent is completely different than the Polaris. Only time will tell which is the best.Frank K

After the freeze in Texas, I couldn't find a like for like Pentair replacement and this one was available and also looked to plumb the same. I was able to use the fittings from my Pentair to screw into the Blue Torrent for the supply and return. Actually came wired 220v. I added spade terminals to my wiring to make it easier to connect. I would recommend that for sure. Only real knock is that the ground screw stripped out. I added a ring terminal to my ground wire and attached it to a different screw on the housing. Easy enough. So far so good. It's only been a few days. Demand has gone up along with the price the last few days. Assuming I get normal life, I'm happy and would buy again.
