So worse case, I can fix this a little easier ...
After starting family medicine clerkship, I realized using the light on my phone is unprofessional and way too bright, even if the attending does it. The most popular is the Primacare light but after checking, it was almost the same size as these with about 1/4" or 0.6 cm longer with a clip on contact versus this button end flashlight contact. So worse case, I can fix this a little easier than the plastic clip style on button. The body of this is all aluminum painted white with a white 5,000k LED light versus the warm white. For those not familiar with the colors, think of looking at your clothes inside and deciding to step out in the sun to check. Warm white ~3,500k is indoors versus 5,000k outdoors. The bulb end is spring loaded and allows it to retreat back into the body if you accidentally drop it which is nice. It does not stick out enough to break off it hits at an angle. To make sure it is not too bright for the patients, I tested on myself and is about the same as the Welch Allyn otoscope at 3/4 max. Since most examination rooms has a switch with on or off, the wide beam allows you to light up the room for easier movement. Unfortunately, the same wide beam limits the distance in front of you versus a regular flashlight.Like someone mentioned, the end piece is loose but personally, unless you get fixated on it, you won't notice it. If it does bother you, find a thin rubber band wrap it around and cut to size. Use a paperclip to push it down and it goes away. The unit takes AAA batteries and has a spring inside like most flashlights to keep tension. This allows you to stretch the spring years down the road when it stops working. The only point of failure that you can't easily fix would be how well the bulb end was made.Overall not bad for the price. You have a second in case the attending forgets to give yours back. Originally, I wanted the ThruNite tactical light but it would be unprofessional and scary for the patient so this is the next best thing.

Great pen light for the price!
They came with batteries for each, which was a very pleasant surprise. I had a little difficulty getting them open to insert the batteries because they were a little hard to unscrew, but once I got it, they were easy to use. The light is nice and bright. I immediately took a look in my husband's throat and the pen light does a much better job than the flashlight on my phone. As other reviewers mentioned, mine did have the button rattle when you shake it, but frankly, how often are you shaking your pen light? For the price, I was quite pleased with the construction and function. They seem like they will hold up well.

Just two days in having this and it's pretty good. Light is very bright and white
Just two days in having this and it's pretty good. Light is very bright and white. When pointing to the pupils it dilates nicely. No light flickering, it doesn't turn on if you have it inside your book pack because you need to click the back end of the pen. After i start using this in my nursing program I'll come back after a month or two to add any more information on this. The pen does make a moderate sound almost a little loud click sound when pressing the button and the button isn't in a fixed position so it moves back and forth everytime you move the pen and it makes this little sound that isn't as loud or annoying nor is the moving since it moves a very little distance. but besides the sound so far this is pretty good penlight.

Buy Now or Waste Your Time Looking Elsewhere
These penlights serve all my needs as a nursing student. Nice bright white light that isn't blinding. They illuminate a full circle of light without dimmer rings going around like some lights do. I can very easily assess PERRLA, and check my patient's mouth and nose. These lights take AAA batteries which is definitely a pro because I don't have to go searching for some little battery cells and it seems like it's brighter than other penlights I've used that take cells. The light has only accidentally come on in my pocket once, but I quickly realized, and it really hasn't been a problem. Bottom line: great price, bright (but not blinding) light, AAA batteries that are included, pupil gauge, ruler, metal durable clip, professional looking...a winner! You really can't go wrong here! If you look further, you'll just be wasting your time, haha!

Good build quality, good price ... right tool for the job ...
These pen lights are well designed with good build quality and priced right for package of two. With LED bulbs, a set of alkaline AAA will last for a good while before needing to be replaced. I personally prefer Eneloop rechargeable NiMH batteries or disposable lithium ion batteries. Now days, when "tactical" flashlights capable of lighting a stadium are all the rage, these provide just the right amount of light to do what you need without potentially burning a hole in person's retina. The pupil chart as well as the mm ruler markings and the pocket clip are all very useful.

This one will last!
I never write reviews but this is no ordinary “sort price low-to-high” product. I’ve gone through a few penlights over the years. When this one arrived, I was blown away... it’s so heavy duty and durable! The light on it is perfect, not cheap flashlight-dim but not obnoxiously bright either. I feel like the pupil gauge and ruler won’t wear off like on previous lights I’ve owned. It came in a 2-pack but honestly it’ll probably be a decade before I’ll need the other one with how well-made this is.

Works but is rather dim. Decent housing.
Works but is rather dim compared to the pen lights we were given in class by our instructor. Bought it for my EMT class where we had to take vitals on 50 people over the course of a few classes. Could not get a pupilary response on about 1/3 of my subjects.Tried my own batteries rather than the generic ones it ships with and did not change the brightness at all so I'm assuming it is the LED they are using rather than the batteries. The housing is nice and sturdy however so I might just take out my soldering iron and replace it myself.
