Bought this as a birthday present for my girlfriend, but we got nothing but disappointment instead. Several problems:1) Poor packaging: it was shipped in the original cardboard box, without any extra protection, so the box already looks old and damaged;2) The locking mechanism is flimsy and doesn't stay in place (ie in a locked position);3) The inner lining was broken in several places.The workmanship of the pieces themselves is fine, but everything else is very sub-standard and overall not good value for money.

I was very pleased with this chess set which incorporated both tournament size board and chess pieces. The quality of the set and met my expectations and is good value for money. The tournament standard for board square sizes is fully met at 2 1/4 inch which is not the case for many good sized boards. Also the woods chosen provide the required contrast and are pleasing to the eye.

I don't write too many reviews but in this case I had to write one. This set is well worth every penny. It has few imperfections but they actually make this set even more exceptional and hand, old style looking. There are metal hinges, it is weighted and board is straight. It is real professional set of chess and you can really enjoy your game. Well done Wegiel!!!

Is it possible to return the chess set I received any other way than by post. It is going to cost €32 Which is just too expensive. Would u have a picture up point where I could leave it to be collected ?Thanking you Josephine Fleming

This is a childhood dream come true, this is exactly the type of chess set I’ve always dream of having in my younger days...:^)Wow! Awesome! Top! This handcrafted wooden chess set is of very good quality, the size of the pieces is perfect and well balanced with CofG spot on at the right place!I’ve been playing with my daughter since delivery, having a great time unplugged to the internet...Thank you Amazon for delivering this early during lockdown! (I would buy this as a great gift for all my nieces & nephews)P.S.: This size chess set is not ideal for travelling but has all the features available to secure the pieces snug and the foldable board would fit in a carry-on no problem, but let me tell you, this piece of art looks great in my living room area, luvin’ it!
