ColourTree Hardware Kit Set for Rectangle/Square Sun Shade Sails Canopy, Easy-Tensioning, 316 Military-Grade Stainless Steel(10 Inch Hardware Kit + Cables)

I bought the 10” hardware-only kit. I’m surprised at how big and heavy this hardware feels; it seems strong. However, as another reviewer mentioned, it’s actually 304 SS rather than 316 SS as advertised. 304 is generally cheaper than 316 and it’ll corrode easier, especially in salty climates (if you’re near the ocean, for example). Also keep in mind that if you got a shade with only 6” of extra room at each mounting point, this kit will be too big. The turnbuckles are just under 10”, the carabiners are just over 3.5”, and the eye pads stick out just under 2”. So you need a shade that’s at least 15.5” too small for your space to prevent sagging with this kit. If you only have 6” on each end, then you’re only going to have 12” of room for hardware if you want the shade pulled tight. Overall, I’m annoyed with the misleading 304 v. 316 issue and will be returning this kit for that reason.

Product is described as 316 grade stainless steel. It arrived as is clearly the cheaper quality 304 grade stainless steel. No way to contact company directly and get the proper grade quality product sent out. Nope Amazon just wants me pull down my sun sail and mail back the product .UpdateWell it has been less than a week and as you can see by my second picture the carabiner is clearly not made of stainless steal.Please buy something else or like me you will be have to replace it in a very short time.Seriously what kind of company not only doesn’t meet the quality of the material it advertises but doesn’t even make it out of that material to begin with.UPDATESo a 31 days after after using this product the turnbuckle broke. It wasn’t during a storm or even a windy day. If it was worth the effort I would be returning this junk.

Overall it did the job! We hired a company to put the original shade sail we had up. They did the measurements completely wrong, so I have been making do, even lowering the posts. Anyways, after many failures, it brought me to this idea of a wench system. I kept looking and looking, and couldn't find anything, until I FINALLY stumbled across this product. The shade sail is also made by ColourTree. This made everything so much simpler to put up and take down the shade sail, especially if you have strong winds. I did however purchase springs to attach to the house and I have been able to keep mine up during hurricane and tornado season. I attach a 3 ft chain from home depot to a carabeaner at the end of the slope to guide the water right off so it avoids and drooping, causing the shade sail to stretch.

We purchased this kit to hang a shade sail made by the same company.Since we had to position our anchor points at exact points, we had to purchase a crimping tool and 1/16” sleeves to use to shorten the wire to the appropriate length. In addition, we purchased 4 more carabiners at a home improvement store to hook to the corners. I’m honestly not quite sure how this kit is supposed to work with only four clip on anchor points, but what we ended up doing worked for us.

If this hardware kit is designed in-house, then fire the guy that designed it. If this hardware kit was subcontracted, then fire the company that provided it. What possible reason could there be to design a well-constructed sun sail yet make it impossible to install. All four phillips screws stripped the heads out (and yes, I carefully selected the proper driver, and drilled the correct size pilot hole). I am furious and will never buy another thing from this company. I have to drive 25 miles round trip to a hardware store now to purchase eyebolts and fender washers because I'm going an entirely different direction as far as mounting hardware goes. Complete waste of time and money.

Order shade mid-May, rec'd 1st week of June.Expressed concern with delayed delivery and received prompt response with delivery date.Shade arrived and is as described in listing. Nicely finished and installed.Excellent shade coverage.Not sure yet, of water resistance, but will likely remove and store during rainy / stormy season.We are pleased with shade.Thank you Colour Tree

Quality of the hardware is excellent. I wish there was some instructions for installation and use included in the package. I have set up and applied tension to my lines. Now I have no idea how to safely remove that tension to repair or replace parts. I have submitted a question regarding removing tension on Amazon but the response was inadequate. I am at a point in which I am afraid to remove the tension by cutting the wire or using a screw driver. Not sure if I will harm myself or damage my product.

The quality of the items is good. But it is hard to answer the standard questions since this pack only represents part of what you need to install a shade sail. You also need plastic covered wire with eyes and wire clamps. So installation is a bit tricky. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes much easier. I wish the company would have a step by step instruction video. And when I received it, it was missing parts. Amazon immediately took it back and I had a delivery the next day with all the parts. These things happen and Amazon is very good about making things right in my experience.
