Great value for the money! Works great for a firewall
I just got this today, installed the ram and SSD and it booted right up. Installed Untangle Firewall on it and its super quick. Running 120gb SSD and 8gb of ram, handled everything the firewall can throw at it. Thinking of purchasing another one for my kids to use for homework. So far, so good. Happy with my purchase. I have 3 of the ethernet ports configured right now. 1 for WAN, 2 for internal and 3 for my webserver. I plan on having the 4th for a guest network. So, I will have 3 completely separate networks with no chance of guests seeing personal stuff and vise-versa.Happy, will buy another one soon.

Stay away!!!!!
This thing is soooo slow. 8gb of ram and 120gb ssd, make a change me wait 2, 3, 4 minutes or more. I am running pfsense, which I’ve done for years, and got this thing put together no after 3 hours of applying changes it still didn’t function. Cli seemed just fine but the web GUI was crawling. I can’t imagine something this thing would be suited for. Total crap.I read the last guys review of how slow it was and thought pfsense is very lightweight and it should handle just fine, I was wrong and I will be returning it.

Appears good quality but I got a lemon
So I bought this to setup as a firewall using untangle. Bought a compatible SSD and memory and it fired up right away.I bought it used (VG condition) but it lookednto be brand new as fast as i could tell.I installed untangle but it wouldn't boot...it kept booting to the EFI shell. Installed again and it worked fine.It worked well for a few days and then just died on me. Hooked it up to a monitor and it was again at the EFI shell. Couldn't get untangle to boot. Installed again. All looked to be going well. It booted up to untangle but failed in the initialization. Wouldn't boot.Either this unit has a bad piece of hardware (such as a drive controller) or the drive i bought was bad. The SSD was brand new and with this being a return, I'm hedging my bet that the previous person to return it also had some problems with it.So, off it goes back to Amazon. That being said, don't let this discourage you from buying this. With anything, there will be some defects. From the looks of it, this is a solid piece of gear. I am buying another one (actually an upgraded model) from the same company. I'm not ruling out the possibility that the previous owner did something stupid and damaged it and then sent it back to exchange it after lesson learned. My next unit is a brand new one. Oh...and a namebrand SSD just in case...

BIOS setting
Bought this and added a 120GB SSD and 4GB RAM and installed Untangle. On reboot it was saying "watchdog could not stop" and this was preventing every reboot! Can't have that in a router deployed remotely! In the American Megatrends BIOS is a "OS Version" and two choices: Win7(default); Win8+. Have to change to 8+, fixed. You will also want to toggel the power to "power on when power is restored." No moving parts and gets warmish. 2.5 connection available as well.
