Klein Tools CL440 Clamp Meter, HVAC Meter with TRMS Tests AC/DC Voltage, AC Current, Temperature, DC micro amps, More

As an HVAC guy who also does a lot of electrical work, I feel like I've used every meter known to man and know the good from the bad. As far as I'm concerned Klein makes only two really good meters the CL450 and the CL440. With only a couple features separating them, they both have all the features a technician could ever need. They are fast, and can read in the tenths of an amp thru the clamp for low amperage motors etc. The beeper is actually loud enough to hear by older guys who've been too long in noisy environs, which a lot od meters can't boast about. The backlight stays on til you shut it off, which is how it should be. If left on the meters auto power off feature will take care of it. It has a Cat IV rating which is also comforting. It does I rush, capacitance and micro amps DC which is what most techs need on top of the normal stuff that most meters have. This is only a small list of all the things this meter can do, and it does everything well. If I had to list a negative it would be it's large size, but it's no larger than most other meters, being roughly the size of Amprobe NAV series which is not all that large but much smaller than the Fieldpiece 6XX series which are monstrous.You won't be unhappy with this meter and it's all you'll need to carry.

Will update if any problems found in accuracy. So far happy choosing the CL440. Have two fluke meters 83 and 117. Needed HVAC testing abilities. Only first look is leads fall out too easy. Squeezing bit and trying again helped.

Meter seems ok other then I had to replace the leads already after only the second time using. Wish I’d spent the extra money and just bought a Fluke
