How many milligrams or micrograms of iodine in a vcap? Any mercury or bromine?

Potassium Iodide 225 mcg 150% of daily. Other ingredients hypo-allergenic plant fiber, vegetable capsule. I see nothing about mercury or bromine. I did some research on this company and they seem to have the purest products on the market for the money. I got these as back-up for radiation poison.

is this comparable to iodoral ?

For daily supplementation I wouldn't recommend much of a higher dose than 225-500 micrograms. To put it in perspective, there is 1000 micrograms (mcg) in one milligram (mg). Your body uses iodine for few other things than to make thyroid hormone so super-dosing seems unnecessary. I don't know what side-effects there may be to taking too much iodine (as with any other mineral, it may be bad) but I can tell you, from a medical perspective, that super-dosing a micronutrient that your body really needs very little of may be hazardous. If you want to assure good absorption of your supplements, use reasonable doses and couple with Bioperine. At best, super high doses will just go down the toilet (literally), as your body can't use it and will dispense with the excess (potentially causing damage to your liver or kidneys), or will cause toxicity. This is from an RN's perspective (12 years in the medical field).

No where does it say how much Iodine and potassium iodide it contains. Anyone know the figures?

Per the packaging, 225 mcg of iodine. It is true that potassium iodide is a 3-1 ratio iodine to potassium but given that it lists 225 mcg of iodine, that means there is 75 mcg of potassium as well (300 mcg total of potassium iodine per capsule). If this isn't the case, the company is lying on their packaging, which is possible but would be illegal.

IODINE SUPP CURED MY HYPOTHYROIDISM AND ABLE TO STOP LONGTERM THYROID MEDS

My prof background is in medicine. I strongly believe all supplements shud be FDA approved, but they aren't. In USA the most unbiased supplement approval is USPhowever only NatureMade& Kirkland are the only 2 brands. I do use Thorne, NaureMade, PureEbcapsulations, Nordic, USDA organic Teas (teas are FDA approved) Pure Encapsulations was purchased by Purina yrs ago, however still use a few of their items: Mag glycinate. sublingual B12 and iodine. Years ago I suddenly had sudden onset of an illness with severe fluctuating fatigue one of the hallmarks. I went to an endocrinologist who also had internal medicine degree . Not one of many costly tests showed that i was even borderline hypothyroid. However, He suggested i try a dose of 25mcg of synthyroid. we discussed how my healthy thyroid cud get lazy and not work as well with longterm use. After 6 yrs i ended up on 100mcg synthyroid, 5mcg cytomel twice a day ..and i am a very petite slim female. I stopped goin to him and was diagnosed at Univ StanfordMed with an uncommon mod/severe autoimmune disease. For the last 6 yrs i slowly weaned myself off cytomel,synthyroid, but gettin off the last 25mcg became an issue last year. All my blood work 8-10 months after ceasing still revealed hypothyroid. In fact, an MRI i had for my neck showed the gland had shrunk. I went to a new younger endocrinologist and told HER i am really holistic, and was there anything that would lower my TSH (8.0 ) levels. My T4 free was normal. Got a list of foods with iodine (was already taking), and tried one of these capsules for 2 months. My labs went down to 6 still high. Then she requested I increase the iodine(empty stomach)to twice a day for 2 months. YEAH 4.3. I am so glad i didnt listen to my other Drs about goin back on to synthyroid and my thyroid gland recovered. yes i do believe based on my labs this item worked .
