Great Way to fix any book that's seen some damage
I received a Bible from my Aunt Cecilia when I was confirmed in my church. It's very old and has been opened and read so many times. Sadly the cloth binding has torn a bit. I bought this tape to repair and reinforce the damage. iIt works perfectly! Easy to use.

The Invisible Guardian of Beloved Books
For those who hold their books dear, Scotch Book Tape transcends its humble title – it emerges as a steadfast guardian. This premium tape goes beyond mere adhesion; it excels at repairing, reinforcing, protecting, and seamlessly covering bound edges and surfaces, safeguarding your cherished volumes for years to come. Its transparency is unparalleled, blending seamlessly with the book's cover, ensuring minimal disruption to the aesthetic integrity of your collection. Applying the tape is a breeze, thanks to its smooth unwinding and effortless adhesion, making repairs and reinforcements a swift and painless endeavor. Despite its slender profile, this tape exhibits surprising sturdiness, maintaining a strong hold and steadfast adhesion over time, guaranteeing that your repairs remain secure for the long haul. I strongly advocate for preemptive measures, such as applying this tape to the spine of new acquisitions upon their arrival home, as this proactive approach can significantly prolong their lifespan and forestall potential damage before it can take root. Consider implementing librarian-approved techniques for invaluable reference tomes or well-loved children's books, such as strategically taping the first and last pages alongside the spine for added reinforcement. While the initial cost may appear slightly elevated compared to standard tape, consider the invaluable protection it offers to your literary treasures. Scotch Book Tape represents an investment in the longevity of your beloved books, sparing you the expense and heartache of replacing damaged volumes in the future. Unlike regular tapes that degrade, lose their adhesive properties, and discolor over time, Scotch Book Tape maintains superior quality and provides peace of mind. In essence, Scotch Book Tape stands as an indispensable tool for any bibliophile. Its near-invisibility, ease of use, and enduring protection make it an essential component in the preservation of your literary treasures. Don't allow your precious books to succumb to the ravages of wear and tear; instead, fortify their future with Scotch Book Tape. Your future self, and your books, will undoubtedly express their gratitude for this thoughtful investment.

Good stuff.
I used this tape to repair some old classic books that you can no longer buy. It's sturdy and clear. I think it will last. This is probably what our library uses to repair books.

The only book tape I use!
Love this stuff, works perfectly! Name brand really makes a difference over the generic when it comes to long-term adhesion. Highly recommended.

Clear, sturdy, a little hard to place
I've used book tape before, and have some old books that needed a little doctoring. This tape is very clear, a little more so than clear packing tape. It claims to also be a little thinner, but seems the same to me. I has no roller/cutter - that would leave the characteristic zig-zag cut at the end. Use good scissors to get a clean, straight cut. Like package tape, this tends to stick to itself and to the book while I'm in process of cutting and then lining it up on the book, so it's a little bit hard to keep it from going on a little crooked or wrinkled - it would be nice to be able to place it and then remove and replace if needed to get a really neat fit.

The PERFECT tape for my record 'jackets'!
When I was much younger I used to wonder where the library got the thick, glossy, clear tape they put on the edges of 'perfect bound' softcover books. I thought it would be ideal to use on my record albums' outer jackets to keep them from deteriorating into illegibility on their spines.I finally made the all-important 'connection' when I spied a library intern applying this tape to some books behind the checkout desk. She told me that this tape doesn't dry out, yellow and crack like all other kinds of clear tapes and that it's especially designed for the "long-run"(it is 'archival' and neutral Ph). That was over thirty years ago and I've been using 3M's 845 'Book Tape' THAT long on my record album jackets with TOTAL success!I have hundreds of LP record album jackets that I've used the 2 inch wide tape on and they're still clear and perfectly readable after all these years! Some of my albums that I used other 'clear' tapes have utterly failed the test of time, the various other types and brands disintegrating into crumbling bits of brittle opaque flakes over the years. But not ANY that I used this 3M tape on!!!So, if you want THE 'perfect' clear tape to protect your record jacket edges and keep them readable for decades, use THIS tape! There are other widths available, but the two inch wide seems to be the best for the record album jackets. Most highly recommended! And, yes, I also use it to protect and preserve the edges of most of my 'perfect-bound' paperback books too!

Better for books than regular office Scotch tape
I learned long ago to use the proper tool for a job. When repairing books, regular cellophane tape and Scotch "invisible tape" will yellow and dry up as they age. But this "book tape" (also made by Scotch) does a lovely job on repairing pages of a book. . . and it LASTS. It's not completely invisible, but it didn't stand out unduly.
