Excellent while working, but don't expect it to work more than a year!
**Update** I've now talked to Chattanooga / DJO Global Customer Service regarding the latest unit that stopped working. They essentially told me that regardless of what happens, after one year they will not replace or even repair the unit. Not only that, the rep. told me they will not offer ANY type of troubleshooting to help you repair it on your own. Then when I said to the rep. so this heating pad is basically a piece of @$%& made in China... he agreed! Outrageous - I'd stay away from this scam-y company if possible!!I have gone through several of these over the past few years as needed for pain. In my opinion, the 'moist' heat offered in this heating pad penetrates deep, and really offers real soothing relief for your pain - that can't be compared to a generic heating pad. Now that I've gone through several of these units, the big HOWEVER is that they don't last. I think the longest time I had one last was a year. Invariably there will be some sort of electrical issue - be it with the cord, or an error message on screen and then the heating pad just doesn't heat up at all. I've experienced this several times, with several different replacements of this exact heating pad. I actually got Chattanoofa / DJO Global to replace one under warranty one of the times it failed, and then eventually that warranty replacement failed as well. I keep coming back because when this heating pad is working, it works so well ::sign:: DJO Global if you are listening PLEASE fix the electrical/cord issues - I'd even be willing to pay more for a high quality product!

No return policy, which you can't even find out until after you order it
I had the older version of this heating pad, used it for years, and loved it. Recently it was retired due to age so my mother bought me the newer version as a replacement for my birthday. Within a couple weeks, the digital screen broke becoming completely unreadable. The heating pad itself seems to continue working fine - but not being able to see the digital output is obviously a problem.I mentioned this to my mom (who had also owned the older model for years and currently has this version as well), and she responded in saying that hers also has the same problem, but that it lasted quite a bit longer before this occurred.Due to this I decided to return it instead of exchange it, using the gift receipt I had been provided. I tried to automatically do it online and it claimed that it was not eligible for a return, so I contacted Amazon directly. Below is a transcript of the conversation, which by itself pretty much tells you everything you need to know. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!
Purchased this Chattanooga Theratherm Digital Moist Heating Pad back in February, 2017 when my Mother was experiencing terrible back pain. I read all of the instructions and How-To's so that she would not be burned or injured. We were both very diligent in using this pad properly. This morning, I was getting ready to lay it over the painful area on her back , but the device would not heat! It does turn ON....but nothing more. It is only 9 months old, and for the price it really should last MUCH longer! Buyer BEWARE...this item is not worth this (or ANY) price!! I am terribly upset and will NEVER use this company again!!! PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY and look elsewhere!!! UPDATE: I contacted Amazon for help with this item and recv'd a phone number from them for a Johnson Distribution @ 1-718-590-4357. This is a private phone number and when dialed, nobody answers.....EVER! I constantly get a machine. If anyone else can help with a phone number that will lead me to the company that sold me this item, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

New model is poorly made and wont last.
This pertains to the model shipping in 2016. The old model had a different thermostat and lasted nearly 2 years in our chiropractic clinic before needing replaced. I bought this new model with different thermostat in 2015 and since have gone through 4 of them. The first couple I thought might just be flukes, but now its abundantly clear that this is simply an inferior product that will not last more than a couple months. I will not be purchasing this brand again and would not recommend it for home or professional use.

Inferior Product
Worked beautifully for a month. Then out of the blue for no reason I turned on the pad and the control panel is completely berserk. I just missed the return window by two days. Most upsetting since this was so needed for pain and now the loss of money. This wasn't a cheap heading pad money wise. Very disappointed.Updating my review. This is how they ship.

Exceeded Expectation but FAULTY product...don't miss this review!!!
Have purchased 3 of these heating pads over 2 years. WHY do I keep buying these when they last less than one year. The current heating pad was purchased July 2020 and like ALL other reviews, receive an error E1 and the heating pad no longer works. This time, the heating pad 'died' 5 days after support from Amazon ended and 35 days after the return window. A new ALL-TIME LOW!! The second heating pad arrived in March 2020 and the E1 error appeared 40 days after the exchange window for a replacement non-defective heating pad closed. No, I am not foolish enough to spend an additional $100 or a total of > $500 in < 2 years for a product that lasts less than 3 months.

Don't purchase
I purchased this and it failed with E1 error less than a year in. Contacted the manufacturer and they do not warranty this product if bought through Amazon so save your money and move on to another brand with better customer service and warranty options.

This is one of the best heat therapy in market
Been using it for years and no complaints. This is so much better than sunbeam and other light/cheap quality heating pads. Highly recommended for back problems and medical related heat requirements. But can also use for other things like cramp relief.
