AC works as expected
I was looking for a similar portable ac unit as the one I bought several years ago. I noticed that brand is no longer available, but I found this one which looks very similar to the one I have. The installation was straight forward and the same (with minor variations on the parts) as previous system. The ac works well chilling the room down quickly and works well. I haven't tried the dehumidifier, fan, or heat functions yet. I give it 5 stars for the ac function I bought it for.

Cools Well
Functionality:To cool the second floor large bedroom that gets all day sun and had no attic. I bought this unit to cool the second floor bedroom of a house that gets all day sun and had no attic space. It does the job well and is relatively quiet. Instructions and setup were clear and easy. Box is designed well for unpacking solo.

Quiet operation. Not much else to crow about.
Elite ARC-122DHP; review after two weeks; the unit was easy enough to set up and operates on the quiet side in air conditioning mode. Did not try dehumidifier or heating mode. Does not seem to put out cooling equivalent to a like size window unit. The screen on the remote can only be read by someone with 20 / 10 vision and the position of the control panel on the unit requires kneeling down to view properly. Control panel would be better served to be on top of the unit. Miniscule icons that are similar in physical appearance do not help in making sure the unit is set properly. It takes someone with superhuman finger strength to unclip the hoses from the window connections. I'm no weakling but I had to use a screwdriver to pry the detents in to remove the hoses. I am fearful the detents could break before releasing the hoses.

No longer recommend
My final edit on this. I did not see any cracks on the bottom, figured they'd be obvious. Again as I stated below, the heat worked great. The a/c was the problem. I had tried cleaning it. But found it was leaking by the cord. I realized that when it would just shut off. So the plus side, the emergency shut off triggered. I did contact customer service and they were responsive. Wanted me to ship it to them. Well, the box was destroyed. They showed me one at HD store that it would fit, but they weren't stocking it even though it said online they were in stock(at HD). I had no way to ship it. Very disappointed.Edit 4/15/2024-I've now used the a/c function. And it's leaking, badly now somewhere underneath. It wasn't too bad, I was planning on figuring out how to hook up a hose to it or something for a permanent drain. Then it got real bad suddenly. So I'll have to take it outside tomorrow and get a better look underneath it and see what I'm dealing with and if I need to call customer service or what. Not very happy. The heat worked good in all but our 0 degree temps for a week in winter. And the a/c has worked good till this, the few times I've used it, same with dehumidify mode. Going to be really disappointed if this is cracked like other's have shown. Will update again in a few days.So far I've only had the chance to use this in heat mode. And it does really good. My central heat and a/c went out a few years ago. That's a heat pump, so I have auxillary heat(which is barely working at this point) but that's very expensive to run. So this is to supplement that. I have a basic rectangle house, about 1200 sqft. I always keep the house on the cool side in winter, mid to upper 60's. So far this is holding to that pretty good combined with the main aux heat-which I actually barely run anymore with this unit.Problem though. It's been in use, not constant but pretty good for about 2 weeks, mainly in the evenings and overnight. Had the automatic drain hose running out the window. And, that has stopped working. So now, about every two hours it shuts off and I have to manually drain it at the bottom. FYI a pie tin fits almost perfect under for a quick drain if you need to do it manually. But, it's deep enough to hold all the water in there, need to dump it twice. No clue where all that moisture is coming from, it's winter and dry here. So I'll need to either take it apart and see if I can figure out what's up with the drain pump, or hook up the drain hose to the bottom, prop the whole thing up higher, and use a bin or bucket to drain it with gravity. Not too keen with having to do that. But I prefer using this to a space heater. I don't worry about the dogs or cats knocking this over, it just feels safer to use while I'm sleeping. And it really does heat up a good majority of my house really good. If I could leave my bedroom doors open, I have no doubt they would be a bit warmer than they are.Initial set up, it was a pain in the rear IMO. I've had several different brand of portable ac units over the years. They've been easy peasy to put together, 15 mins tops and just need a quick glance at the instructions. This? Took me about 45 mins with reading the instructions. Just overall a bit confusing. And I still haven't figured out how to put the cap on the intake side(that needs closed off for heat mode). So for now I have a filter covering it.The hose/tubes seem to be a better quality than other brands I've had, similar to one that was a higher quality brand. My main reason for getting this was the dual hose system. With the single hose, it draws in the hot air in the summer, and just they don't work good at all. Hope the dual hose works better as I've seen. I'll update after I get the chance to use the ac and dehumidify modes, or if any other problems arise. I managed to snag this on a sale, and got a couple of good discounts, so I got this at a much lower price out of pocket. But I'm not sure I would've bought it at it's current price. These things are just way too expensive for what they are and the problems that come with them. But they're so much more convenient (when they work) than a window ac unit. And this with the heat is just an added bonus.

Great service
We purchased a portable room air conditioner in the fall of 2023, we started using it the following spring. It worked great all summer in the Florida heat and we stopped using it in the late fall. When we could start using it again this spring it didn't work. It was now out of the 1 year warranty but it was determined that it was a compressor issue, which had a 3 year warranty. Mariella with Whynter was very helpful and they sent us a new unit for the price of shipping. The new unit works great, thank you Mariella!
